2001 Land Rover Disc. II Security System Lock Down.

I own a 2001 Land Rover Discovery II. Recently I've been having difficulty getting the key to turn in the door lock. Last night I couldn't get the key to turn at all so I entered through the rear door, setting off the alarm. When I got into the driver's seat and put the key in the ignition the key turned and the electrical system turned on but the car would not start. Is there any way to reset my security system and solve this problem?

Do you have remote door unlock/lock? Lube the key hole and insert the key a few times. The key should insert without any hangups. If it still hangs the lock tumblers are jammed and need to be replaced. There may be a latch problem as well.

Also check your inertia switch, under the hood. If triggered ; it cuts power to the fuel pump.

Normally by turning key in door lock this resets alarm also try passenger as well-owners manual should also give clues-try lubricating your lock with a can of triflow to free up tumblers also you may have poorly cut key or tumbler issues-if you can't find a can of triflow-wd-40 in a pinch.

Key programming

I believe you have to have the keys programmed by the dealer. I can't be absolutely sure of the 2001 model year but later years require dealer programming.

Default code P1451 Land Rover Discovery II

The code P1451 on a Land Rover is "Leakage Detection Module Motor power stage error Drive cycle A:Signal out of range - above maximum". This is an OBD-II diagnostic system code. As far as I know, a 1995 Land Rover Discovery does not use a OBD-II system. Is it possible that this rover is a later model year

Which serpentine belt do I need for my 2001 Land Rover Discovery II se7 ??? Pep Boy is offering me 2 differnet kind/types.

I have responded to this problem in the past. 2001 discos had an ACE (Active Cornering Enhancement) option. ACE vehicles had an additional hydraulic pump for the system therefore ACE vs Non_ACE cars require different belts.
