Question about HP LaserJet 4250n Printer

1 Answer

I have an hp lj 4250 that's printing a black streak at the top of the page every once intermittently. I've tried another cartridge and fuser to rule them out. I thought maybe something could be wrong with the driver but the issue happens when a configuration page is printed from the menu screen. I didn't install the full maintenance kit, just the fuser. I don't think it could be the transfer roller as it is just a roller and if it were causing a problem I'd see it almost every page. Not every 10-20. Has anyone seen this before and is it fixable? I'm fairly decent with this stuff but this is just a strange issue to me.

Thank you 57 Varieties. We had our tech guy come in and take a look. He deemd it a voltage issue, which clicked for me because I forgot that we had power issues on that breaker earlier this week. He also mentioned that the issue could also be with the engine controller board. He mentioned the laser but since the black line was not completely black and text was showing that it's probably not the laser. I was wrong with my 1 in 20. It was happening on the first page of a print job. It wasn't happening for every print job, but enough to make it unusable. Also the transfer roller was leaving a horizontal line along the back of the page every few inches, only on the first page. Wasn't able to find much about this searching the web so I wanted to share. Though we are scrapping the printer, as it has been burning through gears quickly and not worth it. A power supply normally runs around $175 to $200.

As this is fairly cyclic in nature, albeit, 1 in 20 pages it could be one of the following depending on exactly how far it is from the top of the page and may also be the charging circuit going defective after an extended period of use.

I have an hp lj 4250 that's printing a black - ruler4100.gif

Failing this it is most likely to be a defective toner cartridge especially if it is a high yield type as I have seen many such errors with them in recent months. Failing this then you should try reseating the connectors on the laser scanner and engine controller board then replacing the laser/scanner assembly followed by the engine controller board, if necessary.

How do I solve this problem? My hp LJ 4345 printer experiences intermittent paper jam in fuser(accordion-like) with half of the paper out of the fuser. We've replaced the fuser with a new one but the

This error can be caused by the following:

1. Fuser that is close to end of life. Maximum print quantity is 225,000 pages.

2. poor quality paper, very thin paper never feeds well and will jam.

3. Printing an image that is almost entirely black can cause the paper to buckle before entering the fuser.

Try different paper to see if that resolves the problem.

Laserjet 4050 - black streaking on right hand side of page

It is either the toner cartridge or the fuser.
Put paper in the manual feed tray.
Print the Configuration Pages.
When the sheet is half way fed into the printer, open the top cover.
Remove the toner and look at the sheet of paper. If you see the black streak, the toner is bad.
If the sheet looks good, the fuser is bad. Probably a bad roller, which you can see looking at the fuser.

Hp 4250 laser jet vertical streak ghost image

Hello,
The problem you are having is caused by the fuser. The fuser is the part in the printer that heats up and basically melts ( fuses) the toner to the page. The fuser has a heat roller that is coated with teflon, your fuser coating has worn off in spots so the toner is sticking to the roller and causing the ghost image. You will need to order a replacement fuser. You can do a search on Google to find a replacement, the parts number is RM1-1082.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Black streaks on the sides

If this is a laser printer you need to send a 1 page print job and when the page is under the toner cartridge and a little into the fuser open the top. look at the page and determine if the defect is coming from your toner cartridge of the fuser. you should also see the defect on the drum or on the fuser.

Black toner flakes on paper

Hi,
This could be a couple of things, easiest thing to try first is to put a different toner cartridge in, something that has already been opened because it would save you from opening a new one. Another thing you can try is sending a cleaning page through the printer to clean off excess toner from the fuser unit. What happens is over time toner builds up on the lower pressure roller of the fuser unit and after being heated and cooled so much the toner starts to flake off on your print outs. Follow these steps to try to clean the lower pressure roller:

To run the cleaning page manually
1.If a duplexer is installed, open the rear output bin.

2.Press check mark(SELECT button) or the MENU button to open the menus.

3.Use (UP ARROW button) or (DOWN ARROW button) to scroll to CONFIGURE DEVICE, and then press

4.Use or to scroll to PRINT QUALITY, and then press the check button

5.Use (UP ARROW button) or (DOWN ARROW button) to scroll to CREATE CLEANING PAGE for the(LJ 4200/4300) or PROCESS CLEANING PAGE if you printer is a(LJ 4250/4350) then press the check mark

6.Follow the instructions on the cleaning page to complete the cleaning process (LJ 4200/4300
only).

7.If a duplexer is installed, close the rear output bin.

This should help clear some of the flaking toner, if not you might have to replace the fuser unit.

HP LJ 2600 "dirty" printing

Hi,

If the toner cartridges are "refills" that might explain some of your print quality issues. Unfortunately, HP only has 2 replacement parts for that model, the fuser and the ETB (Transfer belt) both would require a technician to replace. Check the transfer belt of any tears or punctures. Careful not to touch it, oils from your skin can cause quality issues as well. If at all possible replace all the toners with ones that were working fine.

HP Laserjet 2820 Streaks on Page

Hi,

There are 3 parts to the imaging process that could cause your issue. You have the toner (x4), the imaging drum unit (Q3964A) and the fuser unit. If you are getting streaks from all colors, one or more these parts are the issue.

Let's start with the easy stuff:

Open the cover as if you were replacing toner where you can "visually" inspect the toner and imaging drum. Pull the drum out and pull back the "plastic shutter" on the top, this will expose a green drum CAUTION! Too much exposure to light and touching it can cause damage. Just take a quick look trying to see if any of the lines on your page match any marks on the drum. Check the bottom half of the unit as well there should be a white section across the bottom, expect that as well.

Next look at the toner, if you can look at any other color but black it will help you look for the streak marks a lot easeier. If you couldn't see any streaks on the drum on toner cartridges, it's time to look at the fuser unit. Power the machine down and turn it around, unplug it then fold down the blue clips and CAUTION! the fuser heats the toner to the page so if it's been used recently it may be hot. once the clips are down, just pull straight back and look for the streak marks.

Sorry for the book, but I hope it helps.

Dell lj 5100 shadow print and black streaks

The mfr. & model don't seem right; Dell does have a 5100 but the LJ designation is copyrighted by HP who has a LaserJet 5100.
The rotating drum that transfers the image to paper is smaller in circumference than the paper is long; this accounts for the shadow and the streaks come from the drum no longer being properly discharged and cleaned for the next pass.
I think you need a new drum cartridge and whether Dell or HP made it, you should be able to buy a drum cartridge here:
Precision Roller
I used them for years while in business and they are great to work with.

Streak down the center of the page

The streak is most likely the toner or the fuser

This is the test to determine toner or fuser issue.
Print a test page
When you hear the paper feed into the machine open the top or front to stop the machine
Remove the toner cart.
You should be able to see the page with printing on it. (This is before the page hits the fuser)
If you can see the defect on the page the problem is most likely the toner cartridge but NOT the fuser.
If the page is clean the problem is most likely the fuser.
Hope this helps
