Question about Talon Electronics - Others
My son blow up the Manco Talon 4 wheeler yesterday. I am wanting to rebuild the engine as I don't have the funds available to replace it right now. He and I will now have a fall project to complete together. I have no idea where to start or what I need to get started. My husband thinks the son blow a hole in the piston as the engine made a loud bang sound and then lost all engine compression. Any assistance, guidence and encouragement is greatly appreciated.
Either that or the piston rings, I would think. Do NOT try to crank it by hand, if it is the rings or crankshaft you will do a lot of damage.

if they refuse you do have grounds for a small claims court. as far as piston rings are concerned it is always wise to replace them all instead of just the bad one. in order to do this you have to take the head off any way so might as well just go ahead an replace the rings. drop in motors come from salvage yards, most of the time it's from vehicls that were either wrecked from accidents stolen and damaged beyond repair. in these vehicles the motors are sti9ll good. generally depending on what the motor is the cost can be 250- 1000 and labor is about 500-1000 this will save you quite a bit of money usually . the downside is you only get a 30 day guarenttee. rebuilt engines from the manufacture can be 1500- to 3000 have a 3 year 50000 mile warrenty but they are called long blocks just the block and heads. all your accessories like altenator, water pump, etc have to be put back on. the best way to do this is find some you can trust and have them go with you to find what you need to get the job done. i'm sure there is alot of deals out there that will save you money and good mechanics that can get your vehicle running the way it should without ripping you off. I'm in iowa and i run across this type of problem all the time. hope i have been helpful. good luck and keep me posted. please rate this solution.

Does it feel like yhe kick is even engaging and turning the crankshaft? Are you full stroking/kicking it over or short stroking it? when cold, are you using the choke. I suggest taking a compression test when it feels as if it hs no compression It could be undersized piston, rings, or a simple. good luck
