Question about KitchenAid KAWS850L Top Load Washer
KitchenAid Suberba Selectra (10 cycle, 2 wash, 3 spin speeds) -- about 12 years old.
One day (and since) it overflowed upon regular fill (any cycle; wash or rinse). At the same time (likely not by coincidence), the cycle dial settings became corrupted. The fill, spin and drain can be activated in each of the cycle modes, but the agitate can only be initiated at one spot on the dial (normal wash; about 2 min before drain). The fill is now stopped by pulling and resetting the dial. The wash (agitation) can only be prolonged by resetting the dial to the single trigger spot. The dial does move as a timer during the cycle.
We just recently replaced the motor (about 1 month ago), so I hesitate to ditch the machine. Could it be a switch or circuit board problem at the cycle dial level, or is this a motor/dial logic problem resident at the new motor? We noticed that prior to this happening, and on small loads, the machine moved around a quite lot on the floor. Possibly the motor was overworking. Possibly something that was shook to no longer functions.

make sure that the program is not on the "Intermittent Agitate Program". that would be the cause of the delay.
the other issue would be the timer itself. the timer is mechanical, so once the contact on it is corroded, it will only function intermitently or not at all.
please let me know if i can be of more help.

i dont believe it is the agitator per say. Assuming this problem has just started and doesnt have transportation bolts still attatched. Two conditions cause the imballance. 1)(if unit is a top loader) Check if all 4 shock absorber springs are well lubricated and not sticking. 2)A more involved problem which often happens, Underneath the washer, is the drive motor. on the motor, is a round pulley. this pulley needs to come off and strip further until you see a long spring. If it is not broken, clean it up using a solvent and a rag. reassemble and test. (if spring is defective, it will slip instead of grip on a spin cycle.

there is a gear, pop the top cap off the agitor, the gear is in there, near the top might need to be replaced, sears has most parts for most machines
