Dyson model DC07 the belt controlling the beater bar is not turning but does have tension

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

Brush not turning on my Hoover wind tunnel UH71214.

If you have a two speed roller (floor and carpet position on the switch) the power supply board has blown roller resistance.

Belts aren't broke roller still won't roll

Belt dosent have to be broke it may be stretched. It needs around 30lbs of pressure to roll the brush on carpet.
If it dose not roll off carpet at all the brush bearing are locked up. You may be able to remove the roller and check theme. Most likely you wil need a new roller brush.

Brush won't spin on hoover wind tunnel bag less upright when on carpet, belts are fine

The belts may look fine but may be stretched and worn. Replace them. Make sure brush spins free. Idler pulley should tighten belt tension when handle is released

There are 2 plastic screws that pivot 90 degrees on the top of the front nozzle. Turn them and lift off the hood. You will see the brush roll and belt. Remove the brush roll and clean off any debris or hair, also from metal caps at the ends of the roller. Be careful not to loose the 2 washers under the end caps. Place the new belt on the motor shaft that sticks out of the main body, then place the brush roll pulley against the belt and pull forward and lock the roller in position. Spin the roller by hand to make sure that the belt is aligned properly. Place the hood back on the front nozzle and turn the plastic screws to tighten. Have fun cleaning.

HOW TO CHANGE A BELT

Hi there...You will need a Phillips screwdriver to get the bottom cover off.Remove the screws and then remove the bottom cover.Clean out any excess dirt in the general area of the roller bar and motor assembly area.Place one end of the belt over the steel shaft of the motor and then roll the other end of the belt on to the end of the roller bar.placing the belt on the top of the roller bar and roll the bar slowly and feed the belt onto the roller bar until it is completely in place.Replace the bottom cover and put all the screw back in.
Plug your vacuum in and turn it on with the roller bar off the floor, in other words let it run for 10 seconds until you put it on the carpet allowing the belt to position itself properly on the roller bar.

Hoover WindTunnel Self-Propelled V Belt

when you released the end to slide the new belt on it allows the tension roller to slide into the wrong position. Remove the top so that you can see the roller, at the left side of the roller mechanism there is a screw, loosen it enough to allow the roller to return to the correct position.
good luck

Belts can look ok, but after a short period stretch so they won't turn the brush roll under load, if you have never changed it, and if it is a flat belt, I would try a new one.
