My omc 190,1977 inboard marine engine cranks over, it spits and Sputs but won't start

Depending on the hours, this 40 year old engine may need new spark plugs, plug wires, ignition points, cap, rotor distributor, or more serious problems like a stretched, or broken timing chain, or timing chair gears. Did this suddenly start happening?

Why won't my 72 50hp johnson start?

You should let the old fuel out and get some new fuel. If it has a set of points for the spark timing make sure they are clean and don't have a spike. Make sure the air filter is clean. You may have flooded it or maybe the other way, not enough fuel. You can clear the flooding by taking the spark plug out and cranking it to blow out the cylinder.

Purple-white, AC on the alternator goes to the choke solenoid on carburettor
Orange ( thick cable ) is the charge cable, goes to the battery post on the startermotor
Purple is exc, positive from ignition key.
Red, sense, positive from the engine wire loom.
That's what I found
