You can use a disgusting coil for the mix color and for the shadow fix the antenna.

My picture has become ghost-like or foggy with sharp colours where you might expect shadows. Does this mean adjustment or a new tv?

What type of tv it is makes a big difference. So without any other information it's impossible to answer this question. If you supply more information I probably will know the answer.

I have sony bravia KDL-40BX420 TV ,purchased 03 years back.recently got a problem with pictures & colour. It shows pictures with shadow & colours are blured.please give your feedback

I would check the menu settings and reset everything to default. if there are calibration tests in the menu, use them. Try more than one source for video.

Color Alignment

the most common problem when the tv felt is the shadows all over the screen (maybe the tv didnt show it imm but looks like now is there the problem)
second:there is a circuit in the tv that works when the tv turns on every day. prevents the tv showing shadows on the screen.
the answer is this: if that system that prevents shadowing is working then the CRT is broken and say bye to the TV. But if the expert tech can make sure the D' gauss system is not working and can repair it then you get tv back.

COLOUR PROBLEMS

Greetings!

This sounds like a degaussing (named after 19th century scientist Carl Friedrich Gauss) problem. This usually occurs one of several ways:

1. The TV fell down and went "boom".
2. Junior held a magnet up to the screen when you weren't looking.
3. There is a large, unshielded speaker near the set.
4. The TV was rotated in relation to the North/South magnetic poles of the Earth while it was running (yes, really).

All televisions have a degaussing coil built into them which is activated momentarily every time you turn on your TV. This typically will cure all minor anomolies over the course of a few days. However for a severe one like you have, it will probably require a trip to your friendly repair shop. I, personally, do not charge anyone to perform this service because it takes, literally, 5-10 seconds to degauss a TV. I simply ask them to remember me next time they go to buy a new TV or need service work. I can't say that your technician will do the same.

In the case of the first instance of the TV falling down and going "boom". If it fell with enough force to warp the shadow mask built into the picture tube, then all of the above information means nothing. The set will require a picture tube replacement to cure the problem.

Hope this helps,
Rob

The Tv just got a green ring around the edge of the picture

If this is a TV with a CRT (glass tube screen) then this pattern will be caused by a residual magnetic field in the shadow mask (the metal bit at the front behind the glass). Normally when a TV is turned on from cold a set of wire coils demagnetize (or degauss) the set and clear these patterns. If this circuit is not working you will have to take it to a repairman and get him to do it manually (or the shadow mask in twisted). In future handle the set with care and keep it away from strong magnetic fields (vacuum cleaner motors, etc).

Blur picture

First check the antenna! After that, look for colour changes/ shadows alongside text on screen, of some particular colour. Has the set been dropped? If so, static convergence can be knocked out, you need a professional.
If it is just generally blurred, obviously something has changed, but it might respond to adjustment of the focus control (inside set). This is still a job for a serviceman if you don't know anything about TV circuitry.
