There are two schools of thought in play.

There is the possible enegry savings which is great if you want to help a tiny bit with conservation etc.

Then there is the technical aspect.
Every time you turn on a device ther is usually a small but noticable pulse of extra enegry used and needed byt the device. These can over time in many cases cause devices to fail earlier.

This means that over time you may have to replace items more than ou would normally. Personally i use the second option with added reason.

Many devices now carry the Energy star symbol and these are designed to use less energy. Most of my systems run 24/7 and the life of those systems is noticable to me with fewer repairs etc.

Its a personal choice and mine is to save myself larger costs in the long run.

If you turn off your computer then you should turn off the monitor too to save energy.
You can also leave it on standby which uses less energy but we want to save the planet :)

Had summer baby monitor for eight months, last night it stopped

Your monitor has become unpaired with your camera. Follow the instructions in the manual to pair them again (basically, tell the monitor piece to Add New Camera while you press the Pair button on the camera). The manuals can be downloaded from www.summerinfant.com.

More likely to have failing power supply problem due to bad caps, look for caps with bulging top first and post back what you see inside, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
