There are several possibilities. Ignition module gone, Fuel filter clogged, Gas mixture too lean for engine, Loss of compression in engine, Or just seen better days and time to buy a new one.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the help. The blower is not that old so I suspect gas mixture or the ignition module."

1991. Why doesn't A/C fan work?

Check the AC fan relay
Symptoms Of A Defective Blower Motor Relay
The blower motor relay's job is to basically bypass the current that passes thru' blower motor resistor and deliver it directly to the blower motor. With the blower motor getting full battery current, it'll run in HI speed.

The most common symptom you'll see, when the blower motor relay fails in your Chevy S10 (GMC S15), is that the blower motor will not run in HI speed (but will run in LO, M1, and M2 speeds).

In some cases, the blower motor will fail and the blower motor will not run in HI but you'll have all of the other speeds working.

2 Stage Furnaces More Comfort and Save Money

Two stage hot air furnaces can save you money and make your high efficiency furnace even better. With your furnace running at low fire instead of cranking up to the highest heating output in mild weather you can be more comfortable while saving money.

Many people think that they are getting the best they can get by buying a high efficiency single stage furnace. What they often don’t realize is that they could do better yet and for a few dollars more have a high efficiency 2 stage furnace that could keep them much more comfortable.

There are 2 stage hot air furnaces that are now available that will only run at half fire if the full fire is not needed. With a two stage furnace in mild weather when only a little bit of heat is needed, the furnace will have longer run times on low fire. This will keep you room temperatures from getting too hot before the thermostat reacts and shuts the furnace off again. This will help to keep your temperatures from overshooting the set point and help to keep your home much more comfortable.

Many of these two stage furnaces also have variable speed blowers that run at a lower speed when heating on low fire. This will also help to save money on your electric bill, because these blowers use very little electric when running at these low speeds. Air noise from the blower running at a high speed is also reduced.

If you are thinking of replacing or installing a hot air furnace, make sure that you ask your contractor to give you a price on installing a two stage furnace. The price difference probably will not be much higher than a high efficiency single stage furnace. However the comfort of the two stage furnace coupled with the electric savings will make the extra money well worth it.

Replace blower motor

It's under the passenger side of the dash. Before you replace it. Run 12 volts to the red wire and ground the black. If it comes on full force. Replace the resistor, located right next to it. Blowers do die, but not nearly as much as the resistors do. Resistors are what control the speed of the blower.

Troy-bilt gas powered blower was running at full speed and started smoking and quit running. found oil on engine. Changed plug and determined it is firing. Do not know what compression should be but it...

If it's a two stroke and ran it with straight gas you would need a rebuild, then it's up to you to see the value of your blower and see if it is worth rebuilding..

Blower only runs with full choke. When I switch to half choke, it dies and won't start.

it may simply need the high speed jet opening up a bit (2 screws near eachother on the carb and the high speed is furthest from the engine)
failing that it needs a carb kit.... this is a serviceable item changed regularly.

Fedders 5,000 btu window room a/c; blower won't run or runs very slowly. When it does get up to full speed, it only runs for a short time (10 or 15 mins) then blower stops.

Sounds like the motor is overheating and stopping after some run time has passed.

The issue with it not wanting to get going sounds like it may need oiling (if the oil type). Or it could simply be the motor is on it's way out and will soon die on you. In the latter event you sound like you need to replace the motor.
