If you can't unlock iPod using either [the code or
connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can
restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod.
If you want to change the primary computer that your iPod is associated with, do this:
    1. Restore your iPod. Warning: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
    2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
    3. Open iTunes and synchronize.

Ipod locked

Make sure you have toggled the switch up at the top. If you see orange on top, flip the switch so that no orange shows. If that is fine, hold down the middle button and the menu button until you see the apple logo when you see the apple logo, continue to press and hold the middle button but press the pause/play button instead of the menu and it should unlock it.

I need to unlock my ipod nano

for one make sure the lock button on the top of the ipod is slid to the left to unlock the ipod's buttons.

The default code for the screen lock is 0000 and if you are still having problems then reset it. with the instructions below.

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

Make sure the switch on top of the unit is in the unlock position. If it still isn't doing anything, press and hold the center button while holding down on the menu button. This will reboot your ipod.

Make sure that your iPod’s hold button isn’t on. (little switch at the top left corner of the iPod). If this is on, you’ll see a little orange area at the top of the iPod nano and a lock icon on the iPod screen. If you see either of these, move the switch back and see if this fixes the problem. If that doesn't fix it:

Hold down the Menu button on the clickwheel and the center button at the same time. Hold these together for 6-10 seconds. This should restart it. You’ll know it's restarting when the Apple logo appears on-screen.

Nano Ipod won't turn off

Hi Debbie,

If your iPod is frozen , it may be because iPod is paused or the Hold switch is in the locked position. If so, a lock symbol appears on the screen. Slide the Hold switch to the unlocked position and check the screen.

You may be able to clear the problem by putting it in Disk mode:

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons until the Apple/iPod logo appears, then release them. This resets iPod. When you reset iPod all your music and data files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost.
  3. When the Apple logo appears, immediately press and hold the Previous and Next buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
  4. Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will change and say "Do not disconnect
  5. Reset your Ipod.
