Question about Sony KP-51WS500 51" Rear Projection Television

Rear projection convergence out. replaced boards, blowing fuses

Contacted you about our convergence being out. We replaced the boards (Sony parts) still didn't work.(We are able to allign the blue lines with the green, but the red will only move vertically, we cannot move them left/right to adjust allignment.) Checked the pico fuses, which was what you suggested; one was blown. Replaced that, however that fuse blew again. We couldn't find 3.15a fuses anywhere, everyone we contacted only had 3a and said that should work. Do you think this is why the fuse blew or what else could be the problem? TV is a Sony kp51ws500.Thanks.
PS If there is anything much different we need to do in the tv service menu, please send detailed directions. That thing is like a maze!
Thanks.
(You mentioned earlier about sending an email for communication-how do I get that to you without everyone seeing it?)

99% of these problems are due to either shorted pins or a missed pico fuse. The stk ic's are on the "D" board, attached to large heat sinks, When looking from the back you can see the heat sinks but the part's themselves will be pointing away from you and hard to see without removing the board, or using a mirror to look at the part numbers. The fuses are generally located under the fins of the heat sinks. There are several of them and vary by model. On the "G" board there will be two yellow pico fuses near the connector going to "D" board. These fuses provide power to the stk ic's you must check these as well.

Did you check the two pico fuses on the G board? Usually at least one will blow when the original ICs failed. I am attaching a pic that shows the 2 pico fuses on the G board.

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Note:The convergence/defletion/power board (the one the IC's are on) of this model is on the left hand side (when facing the back of set) also check for blown pico fuses when replacing the convergence IC's The best way to replace the IC's resistors and possibly fuses is to remove the entire board.

Convergence

If you pull the D board and replace the ICs it will likely fix your problem. Check the input and feedback resistors with an ohm meter and see if they need replacing too. Sony has 6 output fuses that may blow with the ICs. If you replace all the bad parts, you can then magic focus to get back to a somewhat normal picture.
