While I'm having a different problem, the problem you guys are experiencing can easily be fixed by cleaning the two internal filters. My vacuum did the same thing, just stopped running mid-stream. Remove the main filter cup. Look inside the cavity of the vacuum and you'll see a grey bar at the bottom of the cavity, pull this up and you'll find the first of two washable filters. Just rinse it under warm water squeezing as you rinse until the water runs clear. The roll the filter in a few paper towels or towel and unroll, reroll until completely dry - should only take a few minutes. Then, look in the same cavity except up top there is another filter which seems to be hidden. The back wall of the inside cavity will guide you to these filters as well. You will be amazed by the difference cleaning these will make in the suction power of your vacuum. Also, if you remove the belt cover and clean out the hose in this area it will improve suction as well. Hope this helps. Now, if I could just get the darn belt back on mine. First belt smoked and popped. Bought replacement belt, smoked and popped within seconds... HELP!!!

Regarding the belt problem you mentioned, mine did the same thing, and come to find out it was hair getting wrapped around inside the end of the roller seizing it. This caused each belt to fail within seconds. I replaced the roller with one that appears to be better constructed, and it solved the problem. Taking off the ends of the roller to check for hair inside has now become part of the regular vacuum cleaning process for us. Now Im having the problem of a blockage I believe, where the machine is overheating and shutting off. Guess that's what I get for loaning it out!

I went to wallmart and got a wide replacement belt for another brand of vacuum cleaner and it seems to work fine. Make sure its one of the wide flat belts, and not one of the round types. You can look at the broken belt and guestimate the size. I only found one size flat belt anyway.

I had to adjust the handle up and down a few times until it finally worked. I don't know if the wire was pinched or what the deal is.
I can't find a replacement belt to save my life!!

The Hoover Fusion Plus Cyclonic Upright Vacuum has a 1 year manufacturers warranty from date of purchase. You need to check your reciept to see if it's under a year old. Then go to the Hoover.com web site to find the closest Hoover warranty service center to where you live. Bring the proof of purchase and the vacuum to them.

My fusion just stopped. i was vaccuuming and it

One item to check is this: This unit has a temperature overheat device.
Unplug the unit for 20 minutes, then plug in and turn on the switch. If there was a blockage in the hose/cup/filters, this could cause the overheating.

If this does not resolve the problem, it will need disassembled and checked with a continuity meter to determine the component that failed (motor, switch, cord, or TCO)

Hot Smell when I run it

Check to make sure there is no hair on the ends of the axel. Hair will sometimes wrap up around the axel and make it hard to turn. Cut off with razor and place a drop of oil on the ends.

Hoover Cyclonic Fusion Vacuum overheats and shuts off.

If it gets too hot it will shut down for about an hour...it does that to protect the motor. A lot of tools and work appliances seem to have that feature nowadays.
