Question about KitchenAid KSM90 Ultra Power Series Stand Mixer
While we were making cookies, the attachment lid fell off and into the bowl. It got wedged between the beaters and the bowl. We removed it and nothing was broken or chipped.
Now the motor runs but the beater does not move. Is there a way we can unlock the beater?
You most likely stripped the plastic gear (Worm gear???). This gear is designed to fail to prevent the motor from burning out under EXTREME loads (i.e. when a metal piece falls into the bowl). The plastic gear is much cheaper than a new motor. Look around on this site to see how to get at/repair the gear. I've found many parts on eBay.com and also PartSelect.com.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
