Question about Jenn-Air Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I was self cleaning the oven and saw a fire on the oven floor so I turned both the stove and the cleaning off. Now I can't unlock the oven door (12 hours later). Any ideas?

  1. Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
  2. Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
  3. Some model ovens require the oven door to be manually unlatched before the controls are returned to the OFF position or else the door may not be able to be unlocked. Check the owner's manual for proper operating procedures.

Used self cleaning process on my oven yesterday and today the oven will not turn on, we keep getting message to unlock the oven door even though it is. What can we do?

The oven gets extremely hot during the self-cleaning mode... the door switch might have got stuck in locked position, or broken in locked position (to be replaced), let's hope it's just stuck...which you'll need to work the mechanical lock-unlock latching back and forth to hopefully unstick....and if that doesn't work just re-run self-cleaning process but this time let the oven cool completely before unlocking the door. Hope this helps.

Oven door after self clean cycle won't unlock

Both the oven" ON " light and " Clean " light will flash when the clean has finished . When the " clean " light flashes , slide the latch handle to the left as far as it will go , then turn the " OVEN SET " knob to " OFF " to open the door.

My oven code is F5E1 , my oven was in self clean , now the door is locked

F5E1 is door latch assembly. One way that may work to unlock is to turn circuit breaker to stove off for few seconds then turn back on and door lock should activate and unlock. If not you are going to have to replace the door lock assembly.

Jenn-Air stove locked

After the lock indicator light goes out, move the door lock lever to the left. The oven door can now be opened. Turn the selector and temperature knobs from clean to off AFTER THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED. If the temperature knob is turned to off BEFORE the door is unlocked, the door will not open. Forcing the lock will damage the lock mechanism. If this should happen, return the temperature knob back to CLEAN, unlock the door, THEN turn the temperature knob off. Oven Door Locked

the oven door does lock during self clean, otherwise it will not work. however, the door is supposed to unlock after the oven has cooled. if it is still locked, turn the oven to self clean and wait about a minute and then hit cancel and see if the door unlocks. if not, there may be a probelm with the door lock mechanism. Oven door cannot unlock

I know this response is a bit dated, but I just had the same problem. I removed the back panel. There is a little motor that turns the locking mechanism. I removed that and there is a button on a sensor next to the motor. I turned off the power first, since 220 can kill. Then when everything was sorted out, i turned the power back on, hit the switch on the sensor and everything is back to normal. I also made sure that the lock in front was back at 12 o'clock (the L shaped piece at the top of the door, but on the stove),. It worked for us. Good luck.

Press the self-clean button.  The panel becomes blank(---), then press the up arrow( ^ ).  The panel will appear 3:00 (indication for the duration of self-cleaning). The oven will lock on its own and start the self-cleaning.  Good luck, ya'll!
