Question about Epson Livingstation LS57P2 57" Rear Projection HDTV

LS47P1 Epson Living Station

Good Afternoon,
The HD picture has degraded. The horizontal scan lines are displaced so that any vertical item in the picture appears zig-zaged.
Thanks in advance for any direction you can give me.

Sounds like it might me a source or connection issue. However, you would know to check that - right? Just the other day i had a damaged cable cause an image problem. I replaced it and all is well again.

If not a source or cable issue - then this sounds like you'll need a service call from an Epson tech. I'd give them and - might I add - I'd apprecaite knowing how this turned out. I wonder how I might have to deal with problems down the road... IE get service and fix it or just throw out the Livingstation!?

TV has a great picture but wont "hold it". Keeps going to a single flat horizontal line across the middle of the screen. Tapping on side of TV used to bring it back but now, nothing. Just a line.

Vertical scan output section circuit fault. Absence of vertical scan causes the single horizontal line on screen. Horizontal scan output section is OK. Contact any service technician to troubleshoot the vertical scan output section circuit. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.Surf the site with patience.

Scanned images have lines through them

If the lines are vertical, the glass may need cleaned, or the unit itself may need a good cleaning. Horizontal lines usually mean the machine itself needs a good cleaning as the scanning apparatus is not moving smoothly.

Why does television have a straight line across no picture but sound

It is due to total loss of vertical scaning. Your TV has both vertical and horizontal scan at predetermined frequencies to show the picture over the entire screen. If vertical scan fails, you will see a bright horzontal line, and if horizontal scan fails you will see a vertical line through the middle of the screen.
In your TVs case, there is no vertical scanning now. Usually this may be due to failure of Vertical Output Ic. In some cases, loose solderings on the sodered ponts of vertical Ic legs are noted.
Anyway, you have to open your TV. You must have a concept of soldering, and ability to locate and isolate faulty component. Usually vertical output Ics are screwed into a heatsink metal inorder to radiate heate from it while working. Locate the Ic, and look for any loose solderings first. You can determine it by giving a small hit with any noncuductive material like wood or so, never use a pencil for this as the core pf the pencil ic composed of Graphite, and it is electrically conductive. When you do so, if picture scans vertically for atleast a moment, you can make sure that the solderings are loose. Just resolder all the legs of that Ic, by applying a little more solder; will solve the problem
Just try these, and if you need any more help, ask me through Fixya. Ok.

Vertical & Horizontal Lines through all pictures.

There may be the issue with the CCD (image sensor device) of the Camera.

Refer this article to confirm this.

Check whether the LCD screen of the Camera looks similar as given on the page.

If yes, click on the "Yes" button at the end of the page to create an online Repair Request for sending the Camera to the Sony Factory Service Center.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KV36XBR400 fragmented picture horizontal overlapping lines

this will continue to degrade, almost any failure that can be affected or temporarily cleared up by hitting the set is caused by bad solder joints.

A good shop should be able to find and fix the bad solder connections for probably a little under $100
if you bring it to them and pick it up.

A horizontal or vertical red line appears on picture.

Red lines are caused by glare. Avoid photographing shiny surfaces that reflect excessive amounts of light into your lens.
