Trace back and see if water is waiting to come into icemaker. If not, suggest you check the 2 valves at the back. one is for the water dispenser and the other is for the icemaker. Possibly the solonoid is not functioning. If there is no water, the icemaker sensor sees no water and there is no action. Let me know.

I just bought a used Maytag Refrigerator MSD2454GR.I want to hook up the water. Underneath their are two(2) lines disconnected. One to the door and one to what looks like the drain pan.Is their a part...

there is nothing missing, the one to the drain pan is coming from the freezer, The one going to the door, is going to the water dispenser. If you pull the fridge out and go behind, you will also see one going up to the ice maker. At the bottom of the fridge in the back, remove the cardboard panel. Once removed you will see the water inlet valve with two lines leading from it. (The one going to the door and the one going to the ice maker. At the front of the water inlet valve is where the main connection gets hooked up to supply the water. Remember to use teflon tape or it will leak. Hope this helps

How long after hooking up ice maker does it take for the water to start running in. we have water in the door water just not in the ice maker?

Should have started to fill soon after freezer section reaches between 0° to 2° F (-18° to -17° C), ice maker fills with water and begins operating. You will have a complete harvest of ice approximately every three hours. The above was in the user manual and only answers when the process begins. There is a thermostat embedded inside the ice maker that tells the water control valve for ice maker to open for approx. 7.5 seconds. Because this model has a freezer below the left fresh food section light switch has an interlock that completes 120VAC to the ice maker once the fresh food section door is closed. Defective fuse, door switch or ice maker will make operation impossible until the problem is located. Please let me know if you need assistance beyond the above here.sea_breeze_27.jpg

Need info on how to hook up ice maker lines

OK the ice maker is the boss. It calls for water. Nothing else in the ice box controls the ice maker water but the ice maker itself. How? Fancier models use capacitance of ice mold to correctly fill the ice mold. On board intel monitors the temp of the ice mold by sending power through it and checking for differences in capacitance in the mold. When it hits the sweet spot it monitors the temp till it temps inside the mold determine ice is there and kicks in the harvest cycle. Older styles simply put a measured amount of water into the ice mold at the end of each harvest cycle. You gotta first run a water line to the water valve and then run a line from the water valve up to the Ice Maker fill spout behind the ice box. Nothing to it.

Ice maker is leaking, ice is in one big blob. Icicles are being formed below the ice maker and ice is freezing on the food below it. Seal in the door feels strong. Refrigerator was purchased in 1986, is a...

I ran into this problem a year ago.
The water valve is leaking thru so you are getting a very small continuous amont of water feeding to the ice maker. This will build up and ice will form ontop of ice. The water valve is suppose to send 1/2 cup of water or so everytime the ice maker calls for make. Sometimes the watervalve will not close 100% like it should. This is an older model so it should have a connection on the back side right behind the ice maker where the water tube feeds. Pull this off or untighten the nut if there is one. The should be water coming out (not heavy but very little) and it continuous. Thats how to check this problem before you start buying parts. Let me know if this was helpful. if you need more assistance let me know

Icemaker on Hotpoint Model HSS25GFPAWW Refrigerator not working

try turning the temperature for the freezer down a little bit. it has to at least be around 17 degrees before the older ice makers start to work.

GE older ice maker won't make ice

pull the cover of the front of the ice maker. there should be directions as to what way to turn the main gear (use a philips screw driver). advance the ice maker until it starts to run on its own. if water comes in at the end of the cycle then you need a new ice maker. if no water comes in check to make sure the fill tube is not frozen. if it is clear replace the water valve.

Good Luck,
