Float problem with Hoover Steam Vac Deluxe

I can hardly go 2 or 3 feet before the float pops up and I have to turn the unit off to reset the float. I have had problems with this from day one but I used to be able to go further. The float pops up all the time. I thought it was from bumping the wall or furniture but now no matter how slow I go it happens all the time. Do you have a solution?

This happens when the filter on the inside of the lid for the dirty water tank is pushed all of the way up. You need to leave a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter.

Why does red ball stop operation?

Hi there! The red float is there to let you know when your dirty water tank is full and needs to be emptied. If the float is popping up and the dirty water tank is empty or not full this is an indication that the dirty water tank filter is dirty and needs to be cleaned or replaced. Follow the link below to order a replacement filter for you vacuum.

I only used it once or twice and then the suction stopped and I can't figure out what went wrong. Hoover Steam Vac

This model has suction as soon as you turn on the machine. make sure the lower tank lid is on properly and the tank is latched in place. check the hose attachment door if that may be open. There is a float in the tank that will stop suction whenit is time to change the water, make sure the tank is empty.

Brushes not rotating on my Hoover Steam Vac Dual

The brushes are all connected to a single shaft. This square shaft is connected to 2 sets of gears and then another shaft which is turned by an impeller (suction from the vaccum pump is used to turn the impell and thus the brushes). There are 2 bearings that the impeller shaft turns on. It's likely these are rusted up and just need a bit of WD 40. Took me 30 min to take apart, lube, and put back together. Remember, its plastic. If things won't come apart, look for another screw. Mine was a brand new unit and the top bearing was rusted.

The foam filter is up too high, it is on the bottom side of the lid. Leave about a 1/4 in gap, then it should work ok again.
