Question about Nakamichi SoundSpace 8.5 System

1 Answer

5.1 Audio Hi, I just bought a Soundspace 8.5 yesterday. It does not have an HDMI plug, so I'm not utilizing the full use of my LCD TV (720p). Now, if i buy a new DVD that supports HDMI, how can I hook the sound from that DVD to my SS 8.5 to get 5.1 surround? Is it possible??, or am I just stuck with the orginal DVD that nakamichi has... or how else can I get 720 P??

No - you can plug in external video using the SVideo input.. There are also a number of converters for similar situations. I have used one of these made for my Macintosh (It works just fine with the SS 8.5).

When we plug the blu ray player into hdmi port and audio ports, we are only getting sound. The tv gives us a "no signal" and "invalid format" yellow box error.

Unfortunately your TV is only HD ready. This means that it plays video in 720p. A full bluray disc is 1080p. Im afraid your tv will most likely not be able to handle a bluray player.
:( sorry
Hope this helps

When i hook up my ps3 to an emerson 19 in tv with an hdmi cable it says format not supported

LCD Emerson only support screen with a 1440 x 900 720p resolution.
And PS3 has support 1080p or full HD.
You must arrange output HDMI resolution to 1440 x 900 or to 720p.

Ps3 hdmi is saying format not supported on my 32"

there maybe some problem with ur tvs resolution. ps3 outputs full hd high resolution video(1080p) through its hdmi. may be your tv is not supporting that resolution. connect ps3's component video out to ur tv and then try. if it ask for any resolution selection. select 720p or 1080i, above that resolution ur tv will not support. ur tv is hd ready one, not full hd. ps3 's hdmi out is full hd (1080p).
or try this
connect ur ps3 to any full hd tv and then goto video setup of ur ps3. change resolution to 1080i (down scaling ). then connect to ur tv via hdmi. surly u will get the video.

How do I connect the tv to a satillite receiver?

You have multiple options here depending on the type of interconnect cables you currently physically have or are willing to purchase.
Below is a web site with a review of your monitor.

The best way is for you to have a HDMI cable. This carries your High Definition Video and digital audio from your Satelite Reciever all in one. The satelite box will also know that your monitor is only able to display the lower 720P resolution than the current 1080P resolution and will automaticly display images correctly.
HDMI is the highest and best way to connect your satelite box to your monitor.
Component - three wire cable 'Red, Green & Blue' is then the next best - note you will still need to have a stereo Audio cable also Red and White dual cable to connect also. This connection doesn't communicate with your monitor and you will have some set up to do on the mointor itself to display the resolution you would like. Between 720P, 'Highest resolution' , 720i ''next highest resolution' then 480p ' next in line' and then worse case 480i 'lowest resolution'.
If you don't have a HDMI cable - and go to by one. Don't go and buy the most expensive. It is best to keep the cable short as possible. HDMI doesn't effectly travel over long cables more than 8'. You will get color shifts in your images. Monstor cable is very expensive and not needed. Anything your local Wallmart and or Target have will be fine under 8 feet.

How to get 1080p?

in addition many TV service providers are unable to send a true HD signal. the max is 720p or 1080i as refered to above. some sattelite companies are beginning to dabble in it but nothing full swing as of yet.
