I have a compaq nx 9010 and a DI 524 router. Recently the HDD packed up and I had to buy a new one and reinstall winxp and sp3. Now I cannot connect to the router either by ethernet cable or by wireless USB adapter DWL g122. The process stops at ''acquiring network address''! What's wrong?

Locate the Reset button on the back of the router. 3. Use a paper clip to press the Reset button and power on. 4. Hold for about 5 seconds (don’t hold too long) and then release. (Or, release when M1 and M2 flash at the same time.) 5. After you have completed the above steps, the router will be reset to the factory default settings. then : Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem. Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPPOe
