recently purchased a dell laptop,it will not let me burn a dvd,i have reinstalled the disk, still nothing, burning software is roxio creator DE 10.2

I had the same problem with a new DELL and an old DELL. As I presume that you are running Vista you will need to check to see if you have the following update installed on your system

If so this will be the cause of the probelm as it changes the way that the system accepts devices ( a so called Microsoft feature) and will effectively not see many DVD burners, etc. You will ned to uninstall this update and reboot your system. If you still can't see the burner then you will need to reinstall the driverr for your particular DVD burner which should be on the CD /DVD that DELL supplied with your system. If not then you should be able to find a download from LG or DELL in your region.

Are you using the correct CD? and the setting correct?if the laptop new it may be the driver conflicting...go to device manager and go and delete all the drivers that you do not know and reboot the computer after shutting it down and when starting the computer will scan for all installed drivers and reassin them again...let me know if that help and please do not forget to rate this service to be able to improve on it
