Question about Panasonic Televison & Video
Firs't off all here are the manuals for this model:
My TV started this convergence problem, i came here, found some helpful posts and tried to fix it myself.
BEFORE I CHANGE ANY PARTS
When i went to the "Setup" menu and try to adjust the convergence ('convergence 2' menu - page 21 of user manual), i couldn't get those red crosses to align with the white ones.
WHAT I CHANGED
Following the instructions i found on this fourm, i changed the two STK392-110 (ref # IC7001 and IC7002).
Somebody else told me i had to change the resistors R7048, R7049, R7050, R7053, R7056, R7059 (2,2 Ohms x 2 wats) so i did. These resistors are not on the replacement part list of the manual but their values are available on the scematics (A-Board).
WHAT I GOT
After i put everything back on place i turned the TV on, went to the same 'convergence 2' menu (user manual page 21) and I was able to align the crosses.
THE BIG PROBLEM IS the lines are not straight. I'm not sure how to explain it but the 2 lines that make the cross are a little bit curved, rounded, waving, something like that.
So, i can get the center of the two crosses on top of each other (before the new STK's i couldn't) but the lines wont align because they are not straigh lines, I end up with a picture that looks like this one:
(the above picture is not from my tv but one i found online with the same problem)
I went to the service menu and got something like the picture bellow but a lot worse:
I follow the instructions from page 22 to 23 of the service manual (Fine Adjustment Mode - FINE - Convergence) but didn't get luck. The lines are too curved.
So, is there a way i can reset all changes i made on the service menu to factory default?
And is there anything else i can do fix it?
I hope somebody can help me with that.
Thanks in advance.
First----you are telling me in service menu set adjusts but lines are not straight----did you at any time during adjustments adjust the Green?
I have done hundreds of these sets--the Green determines in the tech menu if the grid is perfectly straight---if you go there and it is not--cover the lens for the red and blue and look at the green grid--if it is not straight what you have to do is carefully adjust green to get all the lines as straight as you can and then you have to adjust the red and then the blue to the green---any adjustments you made and saved before cannot be changed--it is helpful in this situation that once you get the green grid straight--cover the blue lens so all you see is red and green--do the same with blue, cover the red lens and adjust the blue.
If the green grid is not straight it means something happened when the set failed that affected the sets memory of the convergence adjustments---I NEVER REPLACE ALL THE RESISTORS-ONLY THE ONES THAT ARE BAD NEED TO BE REPLACED
Give me as much information as you can----from what I have seen on this site I KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS TYPE OF SET THAN A LOT OF OTHERS HERE---those kits are a joke---usually only one or two resistors need to be replaced.
Also--on some of these Panasonic sets the set needs to be adjusted first in the 4/3 which adjusts it also in the full(they call it something else) Then in zoom and wide zoom if it has them and last in the HD mode with the set hooked up to a hd signal .
Get back to me and I will try to help you resolve this problem.

To look into this problem can't be done in a couple of minutes or hours. I'll need some time to think of what is actually happening and what you did. Might of used a varible resistor to fine tune. Give me time to add it all up. Take at least a day or two plus no or little pay so hold on if you would. What a mess. lot of info to gather.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
