This suggests the lens motor/gearing has failed- I guess other aspects of the system wait for the lens to extend before coming active - possibly due to the waterproofing system. You can only go back to Pentax with this problem.

Not really, it sounds like the lens has been bumped while it was extended. Unfortunately, the "buzz" you hear is the gears stripping one another. The only fix is to have the lens assembly replaced, which usually costs upwards of $200. I see this problem at least 3 times a week in my shop.

Make sure your battery is charged and if so, take it back to the place you bought it from.

The issue is with the AF sensor, you going to need to have a camera shop look at it for you or have factory repair done on the camera. The issue is with the AF sensor.

Optio M20 Stuck on Zoom in and out!

you have a timing problem, the gears for your housing is out of calibration with your focus lens inside of the housing. you must take the camera apart to correct the problem.there is a flywheel type of ajustment in the top of the camera that can be turned to bring the camera back to its reset position. it is bad to keep turning on the camera as this may danage the gear that is out of time.

Pentax Optio S6 re-occuring problem

Greetings...

Here is the information on the lens system for the Pentax...

The Sliding Lens system is a proprietary PENTAX lens system that offsets the central lens groups from the optical lens axis and retracts the lens in two steps in the cylinder for minimized overall body depth.

I think from what you have stated, the lens system is off track, hense the noise and the blurry image...

Hope this is helpful...
