Lens cannot come out

I have the same problem, when i turn the camera on the lens makes a funny noise and the lens tries to come out 4-6 times however appears stuck (i.e. gears aren't working or something internally is stopping it) so it turns itself off.

Any suggestions?

SOURCE: camera lens

spounds like theres a problem in the lens gearing system. if theres a jammed gear and you try to force it you WILL cause 3 times the damage to the mechanism.I fyou know how and only if you know how to dissassemble the front case as well as the lens cover then see if when yoiu loosen the drive motor if you can move the unit or lens assy. if you can then the gear system inside the motor its self is bad and the whole motor assy has to be replaced. if I were you I would contact number800-488-7669 and find out what they charge to repair the camera. Good Luck

SOURCE: IR-300 Olympus

I had what sounds like the same problem. The camera was dropped and the shutter was stuck open. Just kept showing error message.
As I felt I had nothing to lose I began tapping it on a soft book and the shutter started to appear. I then shut it just using the end of my finger. When I then turned the camera on again it opened and shut when turned off. It has worked fine ever since.
Seems a rather poor design.
Hope this helps. Very best regards Peat.

When i turn the camera on it makes this funny noise and then says lens problem how do i fix it

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

I have nikon d80 the lens makes a funny noise and won't focus for a picture

Not sure this will help you: In AF-S mode, the camera will not shoot until it acquires focus. Look on page 29 of the D80 manual. Now, does another lens make the same noise of only this lens. Can you try the lens on another camera? What this is attempting to do is eliminate the camera or, the lens, that way you know where to go next.

The lens on my Olympus m760 camera is stuck in its out position. Even When i turn my camera off or take the battery out, the lens stays fully zoomed out and makes a funny noise like its tyring to retract....

this is probably caused due to a fall or so.. try to technically have a 360 look at the sides of the lens were at one instant u will notice a slight droop.. now u have to carefully push the lens in carefully with **** like motion for which a click noise will be heard... and will go back in...

Lens stuck out; camera won't stay on

I have the same problem. Its actually because the On/Off button got pushed in somehow and its stuck. At this time right now, im not sure how to make it unstuck, but sometimes it will stay on. But when you push on, since its being held down, its stuck that way and immediately turns off because its still being held down constantly. Maybe try using a thing needle to try and push it out?
