Good day everyone. I want to reformat my laptop (320 HD) but I cant find the hard disk space beside the recovery file which is stored under partition 1, with capacity space of 1.3GB. Can someone help me...

I guess your gonna reinstall Windows, is it showed up as unallocated space ?

I've it is, format it to NTFS, and your done.
You can now use this partition.

Drive only reports 56gb to partition - missing 100gb! How do I access the remaining space?

Click Start
Right-mouse click "My Computer".
Click "Manage".
Expand the "Storage" part of the tree.
Click "Disk Management".
View the diagram for your disk-drive.
Does it show the 56GB partition, followed by 100GB of "unallocated" space,
or does it show one (approximately) 160GB partition?

If the former, backup all the files in the partition (copy to an external disk-drive, or copied to DVD-recordable disks, or to another computer).
Then, use "Disk Management" to delete that "small" partition, and to define a new partition that "spans" the entire volume, and to initialize the partition.
Then, copy the "saved" files back onto the drive.

LOW DISK SPACE

If you haven't used any disk space, you wouldn't be able to boot up. What size hard drive do you have, how much is being used and what operating system are you using? All programs and files on your computer take up disk space.

MY C drive Booting drive is 30GB, in side c drive file properties is showing 20GB bt free space is showing 2GB

Its probably formatted not to use the entire space of the disk, is there another partition or "D" drive where your restore/backup stuff is? That could be take up the rest of the space. Hard disks are always described as being a certain size but can be formatted by windows tlo split up the drive into smaller chunks called partitions. Your C drive/partition might be way less then 30Gb therefore only showing up as 22Gb

Cannot delete from computer, has taken 174mb disk space

I think this is how it's done for XP

Start; my computer, c:/ drive; program files; 2k games

Don't open the 2k games, or whatever the folder's name may be. Just click it once and delete it. If it gets sent to the recycle bin, delete it from there too.

Missing 2 GB of storage

If you are using windows check the drive size. Also change the window settings to show hidden files and folders and operating system files. It might be you have back up files from what you had on before.

Bought a floor sample, a few simple questions, please help!

Most new VAIO's do not come with any recovery CD or DVD what so ever.

The Vista installation has a recovery on the Hard Drive, so the use is welcome to create his own backup and recovery CD's. SONY tech support will probably tell you the same.

As you use windows, it will create it's own recovery points, which will also be stored on the Hard Drive, eating up some space. This is normal unless you turn off this Windows feature.

Also, did you delete files or did they just end up in the File Trash Bin ?
Clean out the file trash bin from time to time to free up some of the HD space.

Hope this helps
