Most if you did not change it is.
User name is admin.
Password is password.
That is if you did not create your own.
You can also look on the bottom of your router or modem

Good luck

Now if it is a netgear router/modem you can find it on your computer that it is hooked up to with usb cable. Just look for the netgear smart wizard and open it to find password that you used.

Hi, this is just what is set up on your router. All you need to do is reset the router and set up your wireless network again. if you have the model number I can provide you with the manual and the steps on how to setup the wireless network. Usually you just access the router through the default IP and then set it up in the utility. If you need further assistance please let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

I accidentally reset it how can i get the internet thing to wireless instead of the cable one

Which operating system ?
Wireless Internet is a convenient way to hook up multiple computers to one router without the mess of cords.
The router or 2-in-one (router/modem combo), must be set up through your Internet Service Provider and connected with either a DSL line or Cable.
Since most Acer laptops have built-in wireless, no additional hardware is required.
Turn on the laptop.
Move the switch located on the front of the laptop to the right, then let go.
The switch will go back to its original position.

Confirm that the wireless networking icon has appeared on the screen.
Right-click the wireless icon in the bottom right corner.
In Windows 7 this will resemble a small stair-step triangle; In Vista it looks like a tiny monitor.
Click "View available wireless networks."
It might also say "Open network and sharing center."
Wait while the adapter finds your wireless network.
Click to highlight the network and click the "Connect" button.
Enter the security password that you created when setting up the router (if applicable).
If you don't know or can't remember, log in to the gateway page specified in the user's guide.
Locate the "Wireless security" settings page to see if security is enabled.
If it is, type in a new key and enter the same number for the wireless network.

Dsi tryin to put internet using home pc as access point it says i have security key wrong

When you are searching for the access point on the DSI, make sure you select the correct one as you might pick up a few other access points that will be nearby. Also network keys have a number of letters and numbers in them, make sure you enter it correctly try using block capitals if lower case does not work. Another thing you could do is take the security key of your wireless access point (other people could access the internet using your access point). To take the security key off, just go on your computer and open up an internet browser and type in your IP address into the address bar and enter it. If you are not sure what you IP address is then go to the following website: www.whatismyip.com. At the top of the page you should see your IP address. Type it into the address bar or copy and paste it into the address bar and enter it. When you get to the page you should be able to find the option to remove the security key.

When trying to get on te internet the microsoft say there is an alert and trys to direct me to purchase security softwere

1. you don't have to purchase any security software.
Microsoft provides a free anti virus/ anti spam software to be downloaded to your pc.This is an advertisement of a software company trying to get you to purchase their software and it has been entered into your registry.
2.Go to the Microsoft download page and down load the "Windows Security Essential and install it to your hard drive.

I currently have a Linksys wireless-G 2.4 GHz. I purchased a new laptop and can't get on the internet because it keeps asking for a security key. How do I find out what the security key is?

Log on to your router. ( Via your web browser )
And your key/password will be there under wireless/security
Your support page is here, just click on support and find your router model, there will be step by step instructions there.

I'm trying to find the password for my wireless internet to hook up a new laptop?

  • Open internet explorer on the working computer or connect the ethernet cable to the new laptop
  • Any webbrowser will do,
  • delete the webaddress from the top bar and type
  • 192.168.1.254
  • Hit enter, Type admin for both username and password.
  • Ok to login
  • On the top of the page click wireless
  • Then subheading choose wireless security
  • Find passphrase on that page
  • this is the wireless password you need, if you cannot see this password or it is blanked with dots, you will need to type in a new password of your choice and click apply
  • If you can see the password, just the page and type it as the wireless key on the new laptop
  • If you change it you will have to reconnect your working computer with the new password you created

Any problems get back to me. Hope this helps

I cant access internet exp. from my laptop even with good signal

Access the preferred network settings (if you are using the Windows wireless setup - right click on the wireless icon + view available wireless networks + preferred networks) for your machine and edit the listing for your wireless network, you'll need to uncheck the box that says something to the effect of "an authentication key is provided for me" and enter your security key in the boxes provided.

If it still fails - you may want to remove your network from the preferred listing and add it manually, making sure that the authentication is turned off as described and with your security key entered twice.

Need a network key

Since you want to access the router setup page and get the wireelss security for your laptop you can try this:
Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.
You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is blank, and the password is admin. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.
When you're already on the setup page of the router youc an go to Wireless tab and click on Wireless security and there you can find the security key that you need....

If the default password didn't work you need to reset the router by pressing the reset button for 15 seconds so it will be back to its default settings with default password which is admin.

But if you successfully log in to the router page just go to the Wireless tab and there you can find all the wireless settings of your router including the wireless security key...
