If the Computer comes pre-installed with a Windows Operating System then you can perform the System Recovery using the Recovery partition to restore the Computer to its Factory settings.

Check this Link for more information:

NOTE: If you are getting any Error message while performing the System Recovery then please provide the exact error message so that I can provide more information about that.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Power cycle (restart) your tablet to clear the operating system of junk memory.
If that doesn't work, back up the items on your phone and do a restore according to your manufacturer's instructions.

What happens if you reset

Reset What?

If you Reset a Router then it goes back to the settings set by the manufacturer. It will be just like it was when you first purchased it. You will have to reconfigure it to get on the internet.

If you do a System Restore it lets you return your system to a restore point (date and time) when you know your system was working properly. It does not lose any of your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs. If you installed a program after the restore point (date and time) that you selected, you will have to reinstall the program.

System Recovery WILL LOSE EVERYTHING. It sets your system back to the manufacturer's settings. It will be like the first time you purchased the system from the store. All of your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and programs will be gone.

Had to replace hard drive. Can't reboot using system restore disks. System recognizes new drive, but error message says disks are not for this computer. Got disks when computer was purchased. No...

You may have just recieved the wrong set of restore discs for your computer. Have you replaced the motherboard in this computer at any point? The discs look for a specific code stored within the motherboard bios to keeps people from using system restore discs to install an operating system on whatever computer they want.

You can try contacting the manufacturer to see if they will send you another set of restore discs. They often charge for these, however, if you explain your situation to them they may send you another set at little to no charge.

Hope this was helpful

I want to resore to default setting but have no disk the cpu was a hand me down.

Depending on the manufacturer, the operating system (e.g. Windows XP Home Premium), and the computer model, the Operating system may be restored in one of the following ways:
1. The restore information may be stored on the Restore partition of your hard drive. This partition is usually located on the same hard drive as drive C: but has different letter assigned to it. You must Click on "Computer" or "My Computer" and look for this "Restore" or "System Restore" partition, access it and run the restore program. If your computer doesn't have the Restore partition than use the step below.

2. The operating system may be restored by using a restore CD for the operating system of your computer. You may borrow this CD from someone. After you finish reinstalling your operating system, Microsoft may ask you to enter the product key. Do not enter the product key of the CD you just used, but find Microsoft Operating System product key on the label attached somewhere to the exterior of your computer, and enter this product key exactly as it appears on that label.

How to default computer system? It's like a new one.

You did not specify what brand of computer or operating system.

general advice:

To do a factory restore and set the computer software back to like when you first purchased it:

Windows XP:

You will need to visit the manufacturer's website and order the restore cd.

Windows Vista and 7:

Start the computer and tap F11 button. This will bring you to the factory restore wizard and allow you to erase everything on hard drive and install like the day you brought it home from the store.
