Re: Heater will not turn on

If these are newer units 5 years or newer, there may be a thermal safety device up near the top. Follow the wires to find it. if you have this, bypass it by connecting the two wires going to it to each other and not the little disc. If this does not get the burner to ignite, then the next culprit or you do not have one then next is the pilot generator. This is the round cylinder next to the pilot flame. It and has 2 wires connecting to the gas valve. Remove it from the pilot assembly, it usually is just a clip, unscrew the 2 wires and pick up a new one. The connection on the gas valve has these wires labeled as TP for thermopile (dont ask, I don't know) replace in reverse as removed.

Hello i have a williams wall Furnace model#25-35-50. I need to know if its a base board heat and also if you could tell me which wires are which. 1 red and 1 white

What you have is a Direct Vent, Gas WALL Heater. It is normally mounted about 6" off the floor on an exterior wall (since it has to be direct vented out). Not sure what the red and white wires are for, but suspect it's for the optional thermostatically controlled blower connection.

In any event, to help you install this heater properly, I have included a link to the Owner/Installation Manual, which should provide all the information you need to complete the installation correctly.

You can download and print the manual for future reference.

How do you turn the pilot light back on? This is an older model, probably about 10 years old or so.

Move the gas valve knob to the PILOT position and press down on the knob. You will be pressing down on a spring loaded safety magnet. Now light the pilot and keep holding down the knob till the thermocouple gets hot enough to produce electrical current and hold that spring loaded magnet in. This is your safety device. If the heat gets too hot the furnace has a fuse in line with that magnet.
When the pilot stays lit by itself without you having to hold down the button then advance the knob to the ON position. Then go to the wall thermostat and turn on the heater.

How do I lite a wall room heater

First, turn off the gas valve for at least 5 min and ventilate the room. Most wall heaters are lit the same as a water heater. Find a red button to push or turn the gas valve knob to the pilot position. While pressing the red button or the gas valve knob, hold a match to light the pilot flame. After it lights continue holding the knob for one or two minutes. If the flame goes out when you release the knob the thermocouple is probably bad.

The blower is heat activated, it takes more than the pilot. If the burners are on, verify power to the unit.

Need to turn on pilot light of Williams 3003622 serial # 400518D

Find the gas valve and turn it to pilot. (Or light) Use a long reach lighter. Light the lighter and press the knob in. Light the pilot and continue to hold the knob in for about 15 seconds. When you release it, the pilot should stay lit. If it doesn't, you need a new thermocouple. That's the small tube that the flame touches when the pilot's lit. They're inexpensive and usually not too hard to replace.
