Samsung rear projection hcr4755wx/xaa color markings

I have a Samsung rear projection hcr4755wx/xaa and there is color markings on the screen. It looks almost as if someone drew on it with a marker or as if the colors are dripping down the screen. The colors are blue pink/red and yellow and are separate.

i dont know if i explained it correctly but my profile picture is of the screen. It just has some lines in the middle in three separate areas going down the screen and it looks as if it is above the tv image but we cannot clean it off. Thank you.

    Hi Sd Tech

I have gone through the menu and set up the manual convergance. Also it does appear on a blank screen, even when I do not have anything hooked up. In the picture of my profile it is just plugged in with no video hook ups. Thanks

I also forgot to mention that the lines on the screen appear on white screens, such as a screen that has no video hook ups. While I watch tv the colors do not look distorted or like a "3D" effect just the same lines going down the middle of the screen remain. Thank you for your help!

This sympton is caused by the convergence which, as of now, dead.If you are going to repair it, I Hope you have some prior experience in handling PCB's(Printed Circuit board) and how to use a soldering iron. Else look up these websites,Tv Repair World.com or Ebay.com, for the part no. and procure from an authorized dealer
Buy a convergence kit, use the parts in that kit.
However, even then I would recommend calling up a Samsung authorixed service center for repair simply because as of today not too many TV repair technicians are not so familiar with these type of TV's, plus he will provide any warranty for the replaced part, whereas a service center would give one, at least 3 to 6 months..................sodeep

It sounds like a convergence problem---with the original remote go into the customer menu and select convergence--it should offer a cross in the middle of the screen and also a multi-point adjustment---if colors are skewed and one (either red or blue) will not adjust in some way you have a bad convergence chip---This model should use 2 of the STK-394-250 chips and both would need to be replaced and the set adjusted. Sometimes in this set there will be either a fuse or resistor bad also--they are located near the chips and easy to check---The fuses are pico fuses and do not look like glass fuses---let me know what you find when you try to adjust it and I will give you options----if you are able to do the repair you can save a lot of money--if not able to do the repair I will advise you how to proceed and what to look for. I am here to help people and I have over 30 years of expertise fixing all kinds of TV sets---I have repaired hundreds of sets with convergence problems---please reply with any information or questions right here and I will assist you. if it is not convergence----There is only ONE OTHER POSSIBLE REASON FOR THIS--let me know if you see this problem on one of the video inputs that has nothing connected to it--is the problem showing on a blank screen.................

IF THE PROBLEM SHOWS ON A BLANK SCREEN---A VIDEO INPUT WITH NOTHING CONNECTED TO IT----do not waste your money buying one of the convergence kits--it will not help----I ask a lot of questions because I am trying to help you----DO YOU SEE THE PROBLEM ON A BLANK VIDEO INPUT (one of the inputs with nothing hooked up to it)

DO not jump to the conclusion that it is convergence as someone else has suggested---save yourself some money and time---and I CAN TELL YOU EXACTLY HOW TO CONFIRM IF IT IS ANOTHER TROUBLE---PEOPLE who give you a short one line answer usually are wrong.

I am here to help---let me know what you find.

Hi

If the green isn't straight to begin with you will need to go into the convergence sub menu and align it there code is 062597 status then follow the instructions to adjust the green first, then red , then blue multipoint and save it. If any color will not move or is more than 1 inch out of adjustment you may need to check the resistors to that convergence color. Many people have also had blown resistors requiring replacement. About the IC's- If one is shot the other one is not far away and for that little price of the chips it worth changing them both at the same time. Also the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder. If you replace the ICs and the resistors are shot, the ICs may blow again almost immediately, meaning you may have to do the repair twice. So replacing the convergence ICs will be a good option.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Your Convergence has gone out and very likely needs work, this is the most common problem in these big screens.
You may not be able to realign that picture without some new parts unfortunately.

There are some circuits that align the RED, GREEN, and, BLUE, picture tubes to make the picture you see.

Please understand that by opening a TV you are exposing youself to many dangers, including electrocution. Be sure that the set is un-plugged and keep one hand behind your back whenever possible to avoid a shock through the heart as this CAN KILL YOU. If you have zero electronic experience I would not attemp this repair.**

The components that do that job are called "convergence" circuitry. The usual components to fail are the "Convergence Amplifiers" which are usuall a pair of Integrated Circuits mounted to a large heatsink. (STK-392) may be printed on the IC along with some number such as 110, 160, 120.

Also look for burnt resistors around these components, as it is common. If the problem is isolated to only one color the replacing those STK amps and any burnt resistors will fix it. If all the colors are out of whack (Red, green, and blue, like a 3d effect all over) then you are l ikely looking at a fuse gone bad in the voltage supply to those amplifiers.

You can look up these parts online easily with the exception of the burnt resistors and fuses which you usually need a manual(which you can also purchase online). The STK's price will vary from $15-$90 depending on which one, and the resistors have to be of the metal oxide type so as not to change value with heat.
One place to get parts is www.partstore.com Just enter your model number into the search and you can get yourself a new convergence board as a whole on the cheap.

If you want a professional to repair it, be prepared to part with around $300-$400.

Really hope that helps!

Pls leave a good rating!

Our Samsung tv will not turn on/power on. It sounds like it starts to power on, the light blinks twice then you hear something, the light stays on solid after that. This model usually has an audible tone...

I would suggest two things you need to examine :

First remove and examine the lamp to make sure it is not shattered or fractured.

Second examine the color wheel that faces the lamp (see attached photo) and if you had a fan like sound or high pitched whine before that points to the color wheel.

The color wheel is a do it your self replacement (I can help) and takes less than a hour.

Let me know what you have tried and if the lamp or color wheel are intact.
