My (M-AUDIO FW 410)drivers had suddenly got kicked off. (i honestly don't know what had happend to my drivers) So i went on line to get the latest drivers for my (MAC BOOK PRO/10.4.11).... It didn't work. So i finally found the DRIVER CD that came w/the sound card & installed it. It initially didn't work, i guess i had the firewire plug in before restarting, i don't what i did but it worked. i got sound, i tested the sound card to see if it worked by dragging a MP3 into a player on my desk top & there was music playing... THE PROBLEM IS... when i plug up my external firewire hardrive to the sound card (LIKE I ALLWAYS DO) w/my music on it, The M-AUDIO 410 FIREWIRE wont read it. Usually i use 1 of the firewire ports from the 410 to my laptop.. the other firewire port from the 410 is for my external hardrive, which usually pops up on my desk top in 2 seconds.... PLEASE help me get my hardrive to read. LACIE ALL TERRAIN FIREWIRE 400/800 500GB HARD DRIVE *Note: my lapto doesn't have firewire 800 ports. THANKS.
Unfortunately, you may have to upgrade. Depending how old your system is typically you need to upgrade every 3 to 4 years. You might upgrade your RAM. When you turn on your computer wait at least 5 minutes for all your drivers to load. If you open up an application before they load it may cause a conflict and not load all drivers. Make sure your not connected to the Internet. When your connected to the Internet all your programs that are not set up to not look for updates will. You wont even know that their doing this until it's to late. This is what I would do. Go to your system restore and restore to a point that you knew it was working. When you look at your restore options it will give you a list by day what was added. Just look at these day's and try and remember what you installed before this started happening. You're having a conflicting problem. Now we need to find out where. Feel free to contact me with any other questions. Hope this helps. JimmyC

When playing music through the speakers hooked up through the 410's outputs, the sound will all of a sudden distort even though the feed is nowhere near clipping.

I've had the Firewire 410 for about two years now, and haven't had any problems with it. Then suddenly one day-- I had been using it earlier in the day, then went to have dinner or something and left it on, only to come back to it not working-- it just stopped accepting input. Both channels don't seem to register that there's a signal coming in. The clip lights don't light up at all, the output signal lights are likewise dark, and of course no signal gets into GarageBand. Any idea what causes this? Did the hardware just give up? Is there a fix? Thanks!
