YES YOU LIKE TO USE winamp as my media player, BUT THE DECODER YOU need is very **** yo be found in windows media player 10. So to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/default.aspx to download it and install it. But you may continue to use your winamp as my media player. the decoder is a shared file.

I assume you mean a DVD. A DVD would be able to be used to watch the video in DVD Players and other computers. However, burning it to a CD would be usuable to as it would just act as a storage media but wouldn't be able to be played in a standard DVD player. To burn a DVD/CD you must first have a CD/DVD Burner. It is a CD Drive witht he capability to burn CD/DVD. Then you can just use any video burning software, such as Windows Media Player or iMovie (on mac) to burn the video on to your CD/DVD.

You are on the right track. Every "multi-format" DVD recorder, DVD burner and DVD-RW drive I have ever owned has had problems with one type of media or another. This is because the discs all have their own patented dye mixtures, and each is a little bit different.

I have problems using Memorex DVD-R discs on my Toshiba DVD recorder. The only drive I can get good results with Memorex DVD-R's is on my Memorex DVD drive.

For DVD-R media, I have had the best success with TDK DVD-R's.So far, they have worked on all my devices.

You may want to try DVD+R media. I use Memorex Lightscribe DVD+R and for dual layer recording, I use Ativa DVD+R DL discs, both of which have worked very well and I rarely have to throw one away.

It takes allot longer, but on my PC I always use the "verify" function to make sure I get a good copy.

First do windows update until everything is fully updated, pay careful attention to any hardware update that is needed in the left column and if that does not help go double click on MY COMPUTER select the drive( D) then right click, go to PROPERTIES then RECORDING set or change your defaults.
Hope this helps.

If it is a matter of you trying to play one of various "normal" encodings (like .avi, .mpeg, .mp4, etc), try downloading and using the K-Lite Codec Pack, which can be found here:

http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

K-Lite usually covers most any format out there... if you are having trouble with the media player itself, try using the VLC player, found here:

http://vlc-media-player.en.softonic.com/

It's free and works very well :)

If you are having difficulties playing your DVD's from the drive itself, feel free to post a comment to this thread, and I will be happy to assist you further!

Hope this helps!

MacBook and Mad Dog Multimedia Compatible?

According to http://www.mdmm.com/spec.php?productid=160 (check the requirements tab, note that it doesn't work on firefox due to bad coding), it only supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP (even though it doesn't say so, it's likely it's also supported by Windows 98 and Vista) but unless someone made drivers for mac os x, it doesn't look like it'll work.

My external dvd burner is not showing up as a valid dvd drive

I don't think the burner is compatable with Mac. http://www.mdmm.com/products.php?categoryid=2 Here is the site. Check your model here. I only found Windows compatable. Good Luck, Tim p.s. someone out there must have some hacked driver.
