Unit will be damaged, salt water is conductive. More than several hours required to dry camera. Take battery back out, put in warm place for a day or 2. charge battery, if it still doesn't go, take to repair agent.

First of all, it would take days, not hours to dry out. Turning it on too soon can fry the circuits. But worse than that, salt water is extremely bad for a camera. Most places won't even repair it.

SOURCE: see dust or drop of water on my pic canon sx10 is

You have to disassembly your camera for it, including the lens assembly.

Even if you have experience and skills in fixing electronic devices, I don't recommend it, since any particle of dust will get inside the lens and your camera, and will affect it.

The recommended place to perfom such cleaning activity is a Clean room (class 3 or higher), and have handy the proper cleaning tools.

Disassembling the lens is tricky and also needs a lot of patience and technique skills to do it properly.

Imagine that by accident a spring pops up a tiny metal ball (1.5 mm diameter) and you lose it in your home, then because of it, your lens will not work properly.

If it has warranty, I do recommend you to send it to cleainig to a professional repair and cleaning service.

If still you have questions or doubts, or need a cheaper quote for it (after get some quotes from local repair centers for comparison), you can contact the ebay seller Great_items_2004

Best regards,

What is error code E23?

Traditionally, the E23 error code in Canon Powershot models is the CF/SD card memory full error. Do you get the same error message when using another card or when there is no card in the camera?

If you've tried a different memory card and made sure it's inserted properly and still get the the error then the camera is water damaged. Canon repair manuals indicate the E23 error is generated from the "PCB board" (main camera electronics) so the only option would most likely be a board replacement.

HOWEVER - I can make this suggestion. I had a Canon DSLR get submerged underwater in a "moose vs canoe" incident some time back. I read to remove the battery and memory card (leave the doors open), wrap the camera in a clean, paper bag and completely cover it in a bowl of plain, dry, uncooked white rice to absorb moisture that may be trapped in the camera. It's a last ditch effort and may already be too late, depending on how wet your camera got and how soon you can do this. You'll need to leave it in the uncovered bowl of rice for at least a week and keep the bowl in a dry area. This worked for me but my camera was completely submerged for less than 10 seconds. Good luck!

My Canon 60d fell in salt water, briefly but enough to submerge. It has dried out and will now turn on but keeps showing error 70. Is there any chance this can be fixed? Could it dry out more and work?

I'm afraid the salt already started to corrode the inside of the camera. Are you sure you cleaned the connection points of the battery and memory card? I mean both the ones on the battery and memory card and the contacts in the camera. Do not use any sharp objects to clean the contacts, because you will damage them bend repair. If the error stays, you have to contact a Canon support centre close to you.

Will SD card still work after dropping camera into salt water

If it wasn't in salt water for very long and you rinsed it in fresh water and then let it dry thoroughly, then yes, the card should still work. However, once you download the pictures from it, I'd consider throwing the card away.

What can I do to turn on my digital camera after it was submerged in water?

First of all you should get (or have gotten) the battery out as soon as possible. You could try shaking excess water out of it. You should then put it in rice to draw all the moisture out of the camera. This may take a couple of days, maybe exchange with more dry rice after first day. When you are relatively sure all moisture is gone try reinstalling the battery. I will guess that you will only have a 20% chance of it ever working again.

Dropped Canon PowerShot into salt water

You're not going to like my answer. Salt water is very corrosive. Once it gets into a camera, even if you allow the moisture to dry out, will continue to corrode the camera and lens elements. Repair shops will not even touch a camera that has been dropped in salt water.

Dropped elph camera in ocean while kayaking In and out fast. Ca photos be saved. The battery was NOT inside.

The salt water is the big worry, if the photo's were on the removable memory card you might have a chance, if the photo's were on the internal memory "game over" I will assume the pictures are on the removable card, gets some rubbing alcohol and Q-Tips now carefully clean the contacts and the switch on the card. Salt is extremely corrosive when combined with water so keep in mind that this will be a long shot and time is a factor, "good luck"

Camera not turning

Maybe just an open fuse, maybe the main board, but I don’t think you can do too much on it. If your camera still under warranty, just send it for repair.
