Question about Televison & Video
If the problem is staying in the room Then yo may have a large magnetic force such as a subwoofer or a speaker to close to the dvr,
DVR's use hard drives like computers, which are a "magnetic" medium, There fore if you have too strong of a magnetic force next to the dvr, then you are casing read errors in the dvr's hard drive,
Another option is possible bad/dirty power to the reciver, one quick way to check is run an extention cord from a room that you know the dvr has worked in and see if the problem goes away, if it does then i would get an electrician to check out power in the "bad" room.
