I am getting the same message, I have tried a re-install of the provided software, as well as looking through the many menu options of the HDD camera, to no avail.

I had the same problem, under windows explorer you should see 2 drives for the camcorder (1 for HDD and one for SD card),In my case I've got offline network drives configured and it's got the same drive letter as the camcorder HDD.Solution was to go go control panel\administrative tools\computer management and change the drive letter of the HDD from H to M.

Under Windows XP, be sure you have upgraded to SP3. Then with the camera connected and Backup selected go into device manager t5hen disk drive. Find the drive, mine had two, uninstall them. Then turn off camera. Restart camera and select backup on the camera screen and let windows reinstall it. Should work fine. It did for me anyway.

I had a similar problem like this that I tried to solve for a week, and I finally came up with a solution. My camcorder won't connect to my computer, but I found a way to still get pictures and video off the camera. This only works if your camcorder accepts SD cards.

If you have a mini SD card in an adapter, put it into your camcorder and transfer your pics and videos to it. Once you do that, turn off your camera and take the card out of it. Remove the mini SD card from the adapter and put it into a cellphone that accepts SD cards. I used my mom's phone, and I connected her phone to the computer, then chose 'USB Mass Storage' in her tools and settings on the phone. Then, something came up on my computer and I was able to get the pictures from my SD card that were on my camcorder.

Hope this helps someone!

Hi, did you try downloading your videos through the included software? It should work best using the included PowerCinema NE for Everio. If you are using windows Vista, then you need to download a patch. Here is the link: http://www2.cli.co.jp/products/ne/update_everioM7SD/pcm4e_update.htm
Make sure you have PowerCinema NE for Everio installed before applying the patch. After this, follow a few simple steps. Turn off your camcorder. Connect the USB cable to the computer then to the camcorder. Then, turn it on. The software should load automatically, and using that you should be able to download the files. You might need administrator rights for this.

Hope this helps,
Eric

Everio gz-mg130 won't work with vista

It is easier to connect your camcorder through the included "PowerCinema NE for Everio". First (since you're running Vista), you have to download a patch. Here is the address: http://www2.cli.co.jp/products/ne/update_everioM7SD/pcm4e_update.htm
Note: Only after you have installed PowerCinema NE for Everio can you install the patch. After you have installed the patch, just connect your MG130 to your computer through the included USB cable. Then the software should run automatically.
Hope this Helps
