Question about Casio QV-R52 Digital Camera

Is my Casio QV-R52 dead?

My camera has a problem. Whenever I take a picture, the picture comes out distorted. It looks like it has many horizontal lines from top to bottom. It sort of looks as if the camera was moved right as the picture was taken. Does this mean the camera is dead? Oh, whenever I record via video, the playback is fine.

I have a casio digital camera qv-r52 3x optical zoom when I turn power button on it will not stay on the lens retracts but I can view the pic's on the dish

Katie, Joe alerted me to your problem. The symptoms that you're experiencing suggest that you're experiencing a lens error. Lens errors are fairly common, but there are many causes. Some causes include poor or drained batteries. Or sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

QV R51 problem

if the camera is giving good results indoors then there are less possiblities of damaged CCD. the problem can be with the apparture control system that it is not controlling the iiris in bright light. it should go high in high light and low indoors. it is fixed on low may be due to mechanical friction or the malfanctioning of the control circuit. try contacting other camera repairer then ASC of Casio
