Question about Toshiba Regza 32LV67U 32 in. LCD HDTV
We can hear the sound. When we turn on the TV the picture blinks for a second, then the screen goes black. We took it to a TV repair shop and they said it was the Blacklight Inverter Board and would cost $600 to repair. This sounds extremely high for a repair, considering the our TV is only 18 months old and is now selling for $430. How much does this part cost, and is it difficult to replace. We are wondering if we should try to get a second estimate, or just buy a new TV.
The most i have seen an inverter board go for on a 32 inch tv is about 300$ and that was shipped from japan, not having the actual part number off the board makes it difficult to lookup. I usually charge about 100$ to do this type of replacement. so they do seem a bit overpriced, considering it also may just be a bad capacitor or 2 causing the board to fail, they run about 5$ each. If you have another repair shop in the area i would call them and shop around. If everyone seems to have the same amount of price in mind, it may be just time to get a new tv, with the release of the LED HD tv's the prices for lcd are dropping drasticaly , you should be able to get a much larger one for the same price as you paid for that one .
