The zoom doesn't go in anymore. The display says SYSTEM ERROR. Please help!

Hi the problem you are having can be down to one of two problems.
the first being that the lense motor has jammed and the second being that the motor has packed up all together.

what you can try is when you switch the camera on does the lense come out on its own if it does wait for it to come out then when you press the zoom button give the lense a little pull and a push doing this will usually free it up.

also try this take the battery and memory card out with the camera off, then hold the camera in one hand and hit it into the palm of the other hand doing this will free the motor if it is stuck.

if after doing the above it still wont move then this points towards the fact that the motor has packed up and no longer in working order.

the problem with this is that the cost of repair would be more than the camera is worth so if the above dont fix the problem then your best bet is to sell it as spares and then buy a new camera with these camera's you will find it just costs way to much to have any work done to them

please let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

There is a small black tube like piece that has come loose inside my lense and I need instructions on how to disassemble. It has something to do with the zoom I think?? Nikkor 18-55 ED

The small black tube piece is a sliding light baffle which has come loose. Zoom lenses are very complicated to disassemble, and you have to have both the knowledge, experience, and the right tools to disassemble a zoom lens.

The tube should never have come loose in the first place, so I would classify this as a product defect. Contact Nikon, fully describe the problem, and insist that they repair the lens at no charge (although you will have to pay to ship the lens to their repair center).

If the camera was on when it was dropped you probably jamed the lense coil. The lense coil is what helps the camera smoothly pull in the lense and back out. Now, just to specify, what exactly are you having a problem with? Will the actual lense not go back into the camera when you turn it off; or can you not get your camera off zoom?
Let me know~

If the "!ZOOM ERROR" message is displayed on the digital camera, switch the camera off and on again 2 or 3 times.
If this does not clear the error, take the camera to your nearest FUJIFILM Service Station for testing and repairs. Problem may caused by lens zooming gears stuck.

Zoom Error

this usually happens when you turn on the camera with the lense cover still on. just turn it off and remove the lense cover and turn it back on again. hope this helps.
