Thre is no pilot light. This dryer uses an ignitor (glow bar or coil).
Open the lower front "door" (small access door) and turn on dryer.
If the ignitor does not glow (bright orange), then the ignitor needs to be replaced ($60).
If it does glow, then the gas valve needs replacement ($60).
If it isd the valve, the internal spring is stuck. Do not try to repair it, you must replace it.

You might want to check the thermal fuse on the back of your dryer its white plastic with two wires thats plugs into it ..if its open the dryer will not heat ..If it heats a little then quits thewn its in your gas pick up valves..Aslso check ignitor see if it glows.

Maytag gas dryer not heating

First make sure you have gas, then open lower section of this dryer you shoul see screws you will see a place to relight the pilot , if you smell gas before doing anything then stop your repair, see if the pilot is lit then push the red button and hold it relight pilot hold this button for a few min's after it relights, if it dosent relight check power goign to gas valve near pilot . Gas units have very little problems you may have just lost gas pressure and need to relight it , let me no ! what you see and we wuill go from there

How do I relight the pilot light?

Hi,
There is no pilot light on many of the dryers of today. They light with a hot surface ignitor.
Here is a tip that I wrote about dryers and no heat on gas dryers...

My whirlpool gas dryer model no LGR7646A has no heat, not sure iof this has a pilot or not, if not could it be some sort of safety switch taht shut down the dryer

I am 99% sure it is electronic ignition. There a dryers that had pilots but those are very old. So what you can do is start with the basics. Make sure the gas valve for the dryer is on and there is gas pressure coming from the connector. Make sure there is no debris blocking gas flow in the gas line. If the dryer has a removable door or burner inspection hole on the bottom pull it loose with a screw driver otherwise you will need to remove the back cover of the dryer. Turn on the dryer and watch for the hot surface igniter to come on. It will glow very bright then you should hear the gas solenoid valve click and the burner should come on. If the solenoid opens and the igniter does not come on inspect the burner orfice for any blockage. If the igniter does not come on then you will need to test the igniter for the proper ohm reading with a fluke meter. You will need to verify the igniter is getting power. If the igniter tests good it might be a bad solenoid valve(there are two) or a grounding issue.

My GEW9250 gas Dryer suddenly has lost its heat. Could the pilot be out and if so how to relight? Or is it some other cause and solution? Thank you, Steve

Pilot? How old is this?
If you are not hearing a "Snap/Click when the dryer starts it could be the thermal fuse, the limit thermostat or bad coils on the burner. If you hear a buzzing sound I would check the ignitor and/or the coils. Process of elimination will find the culprit.

No heat in gas dryer

Remove the front panel. Leave the door switch wires connected.
Turn the dryer on and look for the glow bar ignitor to glow red.
This may take a couple minutes.
No glow. Replace the ignitor.
