Question about Alps MD 1000 Thermal Printer
I own an ALPS MD 1000 color printer that uses a cartridges. It's a photo quality model and an excellent printer. Unfortuneately, I have found that I can no longer order relpacement ink cartridges for it, example part no. 106005-00 which is black. I purchased this printer brand new in 2000. It's in perfect working order and I would rather recycle it if it can not be upgraded or exchanged for an inkjet model. Thank you.
You can buy whatever inks you require for the MD range at http://www.alps-supplies.com

You can buy OKI MD 5000 Cartridges or Citizen Printiva Cartridges. Are the same.
There are also resellers that sells only ribbons to exchange in cartridges. http://www.refillx.com/

The 1300 prints spot colors the same way as the other ALPS printers. To print spot colors, create a mask or layer using only black with your artwork. Select the spot color you want and the black areas on the mask will be printed in the spot color. Make sure that you check the overlay box so the printer retains the printer. You also need to make sure you are using the ALPS printer driver supplied with the printer and NOT the default Windows plug and play driver.
