Webcam not working on HP Pavillion dv9500

Like many people, my integrated webcam is not working on my HP Pavillion dv9500. Most of the solutions I have found involve going into your device manager and going to your imaging device. Mine is not there. At all. I even tried to download the Acer 5210 Chicony Webcam drivers. This seemed to work well for others, but I still don't have my webcam showing up in device manager, or even an imaging device at all. Can anyone PLEASE help? I have been searching for help for months now. By the way, I do have vista on this laptop. I bought it used. The man said vista was originally on this computer, not upgraded, but I don't know how true that is. Seems doubtful to me. He said he never used the webcam and doesn't know if it ever worked.

Okay, I did as you said and when Youcam was installing, a box popped up that said no webcam found and then the install stopped. Like I said, my webcam does not even show up in my device manager. It doesn't even say imaging device in there. So I am now back to square one. Anything else I can try? I do have a usb cam, but it's just not a very good one, and besides, I feel that if I bought the computer with the impression it had a wecam, the darn thing should be there AND WORK!! LOL Please anyone, I will try any suggestions at this point. If you tell me standing on my head and barking like a dog will fix it, I would try it! I am that determined to figure this thing out!

The trick to the HP web cams is the fact that they work with one piece of software only. Go to the HP support

scroll to the bottom of the page to the "see also" header. Choosethe download youcam file. It is a binary file that can be saved to your hard drive and then installed.

I have an HP Pavillion with Windows 7 and an integrated web cam. I downloaded Skype and I can see and hear my caller but they cannot see or hear me.

You have not properly installed the Webcam driver (try their website for the right model driver) or you have not selected a webcam in Skype setup.

Why doesnt my webcam work

Right-click on my computer, choose properties, hardware, device manager and see if the webcam is displayed anywhere. If not, you need to go to and get the webcam software/drivers. If it is, try downloading skype and seeing if it can power up your webcam. You may be able to do the same with MSN, but the msn webcam software is slow and ****.

HP uses CyberLink YouCam software on it's laptops and nothing else, besides a webcam driver. Go to the device manager and look for the camera in the device listing. It may appear by itself or in a group of other devices.

Click the link below and go to the bottom of the page, there will be a bold title that says SEE ALSO, below that will be a link that says: YouCam download at SP37849 File Download This is the link to download the program.

My web cam won't turn on

The webcam is integrated, i called that 'on-board'.
Meanwhile HP support have provided a perfect solution by suggesting that the Quickplay application be removed from the windows startup sequence. The webcam is no longer locked and can be addressed at will.
Excellent. Thanx
