Question about Sony Toshiba Qosmio F45-AV411 Notebook
How do i reset my Toshiba qosmio f45-av411 to factory settings to make everything functional again. I have so many problems to list. One day after a while of my nonfunctioning laptop, I decided to play around to see if i can fix it. I tried making many boot cds from online, nothing would work to get past my windows error, even the recovery disks had errors. I took to repair and they aid ill need a new hard drive. Im waiting for that to come in the mail soon. Before i also tried to reinstall windows vista with a disk i dowloaded from the internet but nothing works to get past windows installation error (ox7e)
But the main reason i want to reset is because my mouse, touchpad, fingerprint reader and the lights(symbols for the battery, power, plug, drive, wireless, etc) above the optimal disk drive, ALL DO NOT WORK. BUTTTTTTTT, One day before i had my laptop checked for repair , I did something even weirder and the mouse worked, and those lights came onBut Is there a way I can reset everything, so it all can work again well.
P.S.-In case you are wondering why the computer repair store didnt fix part of my problem. I didnt want to pay nearly $300 for a repair if i can find a cheaper solution.
I called Toshiba about the Q-F45. My BIOS seems to have crapped out when I lost power during a reboot. The CSR said that there was a BIOS reset button on the motherboard labeled BIOS. I've disassembled the laptop, but I can't find that button. I can see the EEPROM battery (my assumption) soldered into the board, but no button. Anyone know of a button? firstname.lastname@example.org.

There is no magic button that i know of that fixes those faults Returning it to factory defaults doesn;t reinstate broken parts. To me it sounds like a board fault and that some jiggling you did temporarily caused it to make contact for a while. It could be a loose cable connecting the problem components to the main board, it could even be a cracked M/Board. It would have to be opened to check for that. I don't advise you to try it either as many before you have ventured into laptops and never been able to get them back together again.
Putting a new disk in sounds to me to be a waste of money on a machine that has so many problems.
If the unit is so valuable to you I would be biting the bullet and having it repaired properly, not mucking around hoping you get it right by a fluke, that way you will end up spending more thanj $300.
You can buy a new Toshibt Satellite Pro for $400 after cashback. So why persist with a dying machine with no warranty and a 100 problems?
