Question about Linksys : WRE54G Wireless Range Extender (NELIWP18)
The switching power supply output capacitor has likely decreased in value. As such, it continued to operate, at least until power was interrupted, and now the power supply wont restart.
I dont know if this is the total problem, but am ordering in some caps to try. The Viper 12 power supply controller does require a certain level of output capacitance during startup, or it enters shutdown... and thats whats happening on mine.

Have you recently changed the firmware in the unit. you may wish to go to the linksys website and download the correct firmware for the unit and reflashing it.
do a google search on "bricked" routers, i've repaired a couple and it's semi-complicated but it does work.
