Question about Toshiba Satellite A50 Keyboard

1 Answer

When I turn my Toshiba Satellite A50 on and Windows tries to boot I get the following: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WindowsSystem32ConfigSystem It then says: You can attempt to repair this file bystarting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair. I have put in the CD PROGRAMS AND DRIVERS for Windows 98se/ME/2000/XP and nothing happens. Anything you can suggest?

You need the Toshiba CD that says "Operating System"...
If the CD doesn't boot, then boot to the BIOS setup screen and change the boot order.
CD should be listed first.
Re-boot.

I assume you are doing a System Restore/Recovery? Have you removed the HDD and tested it? Perhaps the Recovery files are corrupt/missing? A bit more info needed.

My Toshiba A50 won't start. Just gives a choice between running windows normally and repairing (recommended) on the ground that it either didn't turn off correctly due to power cut or has some

Try going into safemode
After you see the Toshiba logo disappear. Press and hold the F8 button.

You should get a choice. Choose Safemode. If it loads try doing a system restore.

Unfortunately, if it does not load, then your Windows OS is too corrupted and needs to be re-installed. You will need the original disc that came with your laptop to do this.

Im on my pc and im wondering where i can find a free download that can help me i get this message on my toshiba satellite a85s107... File missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system\

Assuming you already tried pressing F8 on boot up and trying to get it into safe mode to run a disc check and that did not work?

This is a configuration file that can only be repaired by the use of OS installation CD, which if the laptop is booted with the disc in the drive and the bios is sett o boot from the DVD drive first, will give you the option to carry out a repair of the installation

You need an antivirus program to be installed after installing your operating system. Do it in safe mode. If problem persists let me know.

Missing or corrupt windows\system32\config\system file in XP

sciberteach:
Go in the BIOS, in the boot sequence make your DVD player as the 1st number device to boot from, restart your machine and do follow the article (you should know the admin password to go into the system drive):
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545
Note: If you are too overwhelmed then your Product recovery DVD will give you your original OS and all settings back.
Good luck!
