Ok, it sounds like the Hard drive is not being seen by the unit.
Try this, Enter your BIOS setting, some units F-2, some del, some F-9 or 10.
On the last page, choose default settings.
Reboot the unit and see if the Hard drive is seen.
Remove any disks from your CD/DVD drive or floppy and disconnect any external devices.
If that does not fix the problem, remove and reseat the Hard drive and memory.
If you can get into windows, check your device manager for flags and you may need to load your hardware drivers.
Hope this works for you.

The BIOS is not reading your hard drive. Take the drive out and reboot into BIOS. Make sure the SATA port is enabled. Turn the laptop off and reinstall the hard drive, make sure it seats all the way and is secure in its caddy. Reboot and see if it reads the drive.

Try....turning it on and try tapping on F8 as it is starting....there it will take you to a system restore area...If you Image restore it will take your computer back to the date of when you first bought it....(as it left the factory).....It will delite everything you have put on it including picture or and other files. But it will give you a clean slate to start with

NO BOOTABLE DEVICE When the PC cannot see a boot file/disk on either the hard disk or floppy drive it gives an error message "No bootable device. Insert boot disk and press any key"
There may be a hard disk problem.
Check the BIOS to see if the hard disk is detected, if not open the case and re-seat the hard drive and also where it connects to the motherboard.
If it still gives this error message and the BIOS does not detect this hard drive, then the hard drive is probably faulty.

To get the computer operating again, install a new hard drive in your computer and then install Windows on this hard drive plus the computer's device drivers and your programs.

Remove the hard drive and reseat it back in place, sometimes this will cure the problem. If this fails have the hardware checked for possible replacement.

When my wife boots up her Dell Inspirion 1525 about every third time, she gets a black screen reading "No bootable devices found".

it seems your harddisk connection is not tight enough, you'll have to open your notebook up to check it.

Dell inspiron 1525 shows black screen after dell logo?

The computer cant find a bootable device. Either your boot sector on your Hard drive is gone/damaged (most likely a virus) or the Hard drive failed. Start with booting with your windows disk and try to do a repair installation.
