I have a 2008 Dodge Caliber and it has a oil leak. It looks like it's coming from above the oil filter. What is it? Please help, I am wasting a lot of money on oil!

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

The oil filter points straight down, so the leak it probably from the oil filter seal itself. Have you checked to see it is it loose? Turn it hard clockwise. Wrap it in a cloth.

What is the best type/weight of oil goes in a 2008 Dodge Magnum?

You didn't specify which engine it has.
2.7-10w30
3.5-10w30
5.7-5w20
6.1-0w40

Synthetics will always give you the best protection, but Chrysler does not require the use.

How often should i change my oil in my 2008 dodge caliber

If you like your car, change every 2,500 miles. Manufacturers say longer, and that seems to work, but oil change is pretty cheap compared to oil related failures...

The check oil light in my 2008 dodge charger stays on

OK, now you added 2 quarts of oil just because someone told you to. Did you check the oil level yourself? That is very suspicious unless your engine is smoking and burning oil. Park the car on a level surface, shut the engine off, and after 30 minutes remove the dip stick and check the oil level. You may find it is overfull. If it is that is just as bad as unde-full. In any case, Change the oil & filter and use a quality filter such as Purolator or Wix and the correct weight oil which will probably be 5w20. Check your owner's manual to be sure. If the oil light is still on, have a oil pressure test run. You may have nothing more than a bad oil pressure sending unit.

Dodge caliber oil viscosity

no it will not cause any harm over the corse of 3000 miles. 5w30 is just a little thicker. 5 is the thickness when oil is cold. 20 or 30 is thickness when oil i hot, it will be ok just dont do any hotroding. only down part is that if the dealer finds out it will void the warranty.
