My HP laptop isn't booting up and saying an operating system wasn't found what do I need to do

Make sure you do not have a CD or Flash Drive in the computer and then restart. If you still get this message, your hard drive has become corrupted or has failed. Your data may still be recoverable. Pressing F10 or F11 as the computer starts should start recovery options if that part of the drive has not been damaged. If that does not work, other recovery options depend on if you have another computer or if you have a Windows install CD.
If there is important data that you have not backed up, be very very careful because the recovery process can wipe your data.

Reset hp amd to factory settings

Hello,

The particular error code (1009) is a generic error code for 'interrupted' for system recovery. Meaning, somehow, the recovery process was interrupted. For most HP machines this can be a simple as a few keys being pressed on the keyboard, a power interruption, bad disc, faulty hard drive, or some other form of read error during the process.

Unfortunately, the error code isn't specific enough to give you the best possible troubleshooting information, but I shall try to help as much as I can.

If you can provide the exact HP model number, I can provide a more specific solution for you; but, if you have a Desktop or Notebook computer that uses F11 (on start-up) to enter into system recovery, then you can do the following:

  1. Click Next when Welcome to Recovery Manager displays.
  2. Select No and then click Next when Microsoft System Restore displays.
  3. Select Yes and then click Next when System Recovery displays.
  4. Select the appropriate item (backup file or not) and then click Next when Recover your computer to original factory condition displays.
  5. Allow the system recovery process to complete.
NOTE: The PC will appear to FREEZE for several minutes (it can take quite a while depending on the Operating System you are installing), so do not turn off the power to your machine. If the machine stays frozen for longer than several hours, then chances are the hard drive is having issues, or the recovery image cannot be recovered.

If you have tried the above steps, and you are still failing with Error 1009, it usually points to a failure with the recovery medium (image on a CD, or image on the hard drive), or that the hard drive it is restoring too is having a write/read error. This can be worked around if you have a USB recovery media you can use.

If you have access to another computer, you can create a recovery key on a USB stick to boot your HP computer from, and then kick off the recovery process that way.

Those options, however, shouldn't be taken unless you have tried the above solutions first.

Regards,

Phillip

How do I get technical support. I am experiencing a NTLDR is missing error.

Here are a few things to try:

1. Make sure the CD/DVD drive is empty.
2. Make sure there are no USB Keys/Flash Drives/Pen Drives plugged into the computer.
3. Reboot the computer after making sure no extra disks or external storage media is plugged in.
4. If you're running Windows XP - attempt to fix the NTLDR error by booting the the OS CD and running the recovery console. Once in the recovery console, type:

Copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy d:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

If it asks you to overwrite the files say "y".

5. If the system still fails, then you may need to slave your hard drive to another computer to get your data recovered. After doing this - you may need to reinstall or perform a repair install of the Operating System using the Windows CD.

How do i reset my computer?

If youa re talking about resetting the power Because it is frozen or something like that. Just hold down the power button until is shuts off then press again to restart. if you are talking about reinstalling windows. this can be done many ways depending on the make of your computer. Most companies such as Dell or HP/Compaq have an option on the first screen to system recovery (WARNING!! THIS WILL COMPLETLY FORMAT AND ERASE EVERYTHING) These work by copying an image located on a recovery partition taking you back to the day you got the computer. the other way is if you have an actual Windows cd (not the Operating system cd from dell this is the same as using the recovery option from boot screen) you can use the repair option on the screen after the usage agreement and it will try to repair windows or you can install a fresh copy and setup will copy your old files into a folder called " windows.old" then after instalation is complete go to that folder copy what you want and delete it when done as it is a back up copy specifically for that purpose.

Need a recovery disc for Pavilion dv-5 notebook

Hi:
You most likely have a bad hard drive, and a disk set is not going to help you, though you will need it too.
What you need is a new hard drive, a copy of all the drivers for your laptop, which you can download for free from HP. If HP won't send you a copy of the recovery disk, you can use any OEM copy of the same operating system that your laptop has a sticker for, but you won't have all of your programs.

I cannot recover my hp A 350n computer...there is an system error, hard disk error...i am using windows home xp

Hard disk error means hard disk error.
Power OFF and open up the computer.
Check all power and data cables to the hard drive.
Close it up and turn ON.
Not likely to work....
The hard drive needs to be replaced.
If you need more assistance, please post...

Please Help with a system recovery on a HP pavilion a1253w!

The reason the cd recovery did not work is that it was made for some other HP model.
On the unit you are trying to recover, reboot the computer and press F10 . several times. You should see a recovery menu. Select the type of recovery that will format and recover the unit to OEM defaults.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Samsung CLP-350N installation problems

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
