Hampton bay ceiling fan broke. How to screw it back up

It already looks like it's "screwed up". ( LOL) BEFORE BEGINNING READ ALL OF THIS FIRST< PLEASE> First turn off the breaker that supplies power to the fan. Take down the whole unit up to the ceiling mounts. It looks like the wood is broken that the screw bracket used to mount the fan is on. If it is you will need to reinforce the wood and rescrew the fan mounting bracket on it. THe ball carrier from the bracket should now be secure and ready to mount the swing ball of the fan at the top of the fan unit motor. Next rewire the fan to the wires in the ceiling with the wire nuts you removed. Tighten the ball screw and push the cover plate up to the ceiling, fastening it in place with the screws provided to the ceiling plate...Done!

I have checked the power breaker and it is ok but the lights and fan do not work is there a fuse in the unit

the connection at the ceiling plate and box may have come loose, remove the cover plate and check for power in the box, ( black wire in the ceiling box should show power, white is neutral) if you have no power there, check the switch at the wall that controls the ceiling box

I need to replace the pull chain that controls the blade speed for my Hampton Bay ceiling fan. I do not know the model number, but it is a 52" five-blade fan.

If the chain is broken off at the switch, you will need to replace the entire switch. It is not difficult to do and you can purchase a new switch from either Lowe's or Home Depot. You''ll find the switch in the ceiling fan department.

All you need to do, to remove the switch is remove the bottom cover of the fan housing, where the switch is located (if you have a light kit, you will need to remove it). This will give you access to the wiring and the switch. The switch is held in place by a threaded retainer ring on the outside of the fan housing. Unscrew it and push the switch back into the housing, Disconnect the wire nuts and totally remove the switch. Take it with you, when you go to purchase a new one.

If the chain is still visible by at least 1" all you need to do is purchase a new chain (usually comes with connector) and connect the two together.

As always, be sure the electricity is turned off to the fan, before attempting any repairs.

Hope this helps solve your problem.

I can't find any mounting screws or bolts on the ceiling fan motor assembly. How do I remove it from the ceiling?

Yopu first need to drop the canopy co0ver from the ceiling mount. The cover may have screws at the very top edge. It may have screws at the bottom plate. It may have a decorative plastic ring at the very top that is conceling the mounting screws. You should be able to twist the plastic ring in an unscrewing motion and pull down to remove it.

My Nutone 8814R motor went out on my ceiling fan and i just ordered a new motor. My question is how do i take out the old one and replace it with the new one. Will it be easy to do myself? Also is there an...

The good news is that this is a relatively easy item to remove and replace, as they make a replacement fan/motor unit (sub assembly) that you can swap out for the old one.

All you need to do is pull down on the trim vent plate and then squeeze the wire retainer clips together to remove the grill/trim.

Once you've done that, you can unplug the fan portion of the exhaust fan unit from the base enclosure. Now simply remove the screw or nut that holds the fan and mounting plate into the enclosure and simply pull it down and pivot it out of the enclosure - you might have to push in on the side of the enclosure where you removed the screw/nut to get the fan and metal plate out of the cabinet.

The replacement fans usually come with a new metal mounting plate that fits many of the older exhaust fans, but if your's looks different or doesn't work, you can remove the fan and install just the fan motore onto your old metal fan mounting plate.

Instructions are typically included in the replacement unit packages. This is also very simple to do with only 2 screws holding the fan onto the mounting plate.

Once you're done, simply hook the edge of the plate back into the fan enclosure and then push it up and fasten the mounting screw/nut onto the plate and plug the fan into the ceiling enclosure and replace the grill plate and you're all set!

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

My bathroom fan was barely running when now it doesn't run at all,

Hi, W/D here.
These fan motors are fairly rugged, but they do give out sometimes. I have to change them out occasionally, and here's what I do: If the unit is presentable, I don't want to change out the entire unit, just the damaged part. The fans come in a variety of sizes (the ceiling box part, that is) and it is difficult to find one that fits in the same cutout. I unplug the fan from the receptacle in the ceiling box and remove the motor and mounting bracket. I buy the economy version of the fan, or the motor replacement kit at Lowe's/similar, and mount the new motor and fan blade in the old bracket and reinstall. Total cost is ~ $20.
Best regards, --W/D--

Looking for light kit for ceiling fan

if you can manage doing some mechanical stuff and electrical connection, this can be done, however it is difficult to say what kind of fixture will fit your existing fan, say for example the mounting plate, this will be a little tough job, there are a lot of light kit available in home depot, the only problem is if you can manage to connect this electrically and mechanically.
let me know your model and if you have a remote control base type.. cheers

Broken pull cord for the 3 speed fan (Hunter kiw profile)

Turn off circuit breaker to fan. Remove bottom cover plate. Remove thumb nut holding switch in place. Examine switch. Places where wires push in should be numbered. Write down number and coresponding wire color. Remove wires from switch. Take switch with you. Walmart carries some switches but if you can't find it there go to a Locke supply store. Know how many speeds the fan iswhen you go looking. Reassamble in reverse order.
