Question about Cell Phones

Samsung D980 dual sim card phone - cannot read memory card. Hi there, I tried to put a 2GB card in my phone and it will not read it. I asked to have it fixed and it came back with a 128GB card which was working - and must have been previously in a blackberry as a folder was called "blackberry". Anyway, I tried to format that card again and now it does not work. Also have tried to make a 2GB card work (brand new sandisk) but no luck. I cannot access the card, or format it in the phone. There are some comments about the D900 phone on the web. The only convincing one comment is that the firmware is limited to 1GB. Thanks Barry Marshall

The specification sheet says that 2GB is normal for this phone. I think I need to send it to Samsung for repair but their support website is very poor.

The spec. sheet for the D980 says that it takes 2GB cards. I recall that it came to me with either 128 MB or 1GB installed. This error lasted a few months then seemed to fix itself temporarily today when the repair shop installed the 128MB card fromm a blackberry.

Hi there. Sorry for the delay, but I recall the problem is fixed now since I performed a reset on the phone. Sad that they don't provide proper support for these phones. I saw a lot of them for sale in Portugal - so they were quite successful in some small countries.

It is exactly a software/firmware issue since memory-utilizing devices have a limited recognition of memory storage media.
anyway, make sure that your media will be formatted using the phone where it is intended to be used, and not with a PC since this fault always brings access issues.

There are several of possible cause of the problem. Not ALL phones could support 2GB and higher storage memory cards. You need to verify with Samsung if the phone could support a 2GB memory card.

Regarding on what you have found in the comment that "the firmware is limited to 1GB". I'm sorry Barry, but I don't think so. Firmware is a software created for every device and that should work regardless of the storage capacity. Firmware is designed to work on the system and not in the storage.

The thing is, the phone could either support or not support 2GB memory cards. If Samsung says that it does support 2GB, then you may want to ask them if you need to use a regular 2GB or an SDHC 2GB card. If the phone still did not recognize any card, then this phone needs repair.

Have a great day!

Freezing when I install a micro sd card into my samsung eternity

i had the same problem. so i try whatever i can
- i remove battery, put it back on, turn the phone back on. seems like it works for 3-5 minutes and freeze again
- i remove sim (only ),memory card still in there, and turn the phone back on..let it sit with no sim. and 3 minutes later it freeze again
- i remove sim, remove micro sdhc, reset the phone , the phone automatic restart..it woks... it never freeze ( no sim+ no memory card )
- i put the sim back on, no memory card, turn the phone back on and it works!!!!!!! i try these 2-3 times without memory card. works normal!!!
so..i think its a memory card issue. may be the phone doesn't like it. i have 2gb. kingston. or i have to buy a new card again.
for now its still working without freeze up for shut down by itself.
hope it help :)
