Logitech quickcam messenger mic and audio problems
I hope that someone can help me before I go completely mad with this problem.
I have recently bought a quickcam messenger and my contacts cannot hear me and I cannot hear them. Video is all ok.
I have been through the audio set up several times now and all appears to work but as soon as I make a call all the audio settings go to grey out and no audio is available. I think I did get a very quick glance at a box on screen saying something about bandwidth but it didnot stay on screen longenough for me to get the whole message.
I would be very grateful if you could give me some tips on correcting this problem.

Re: logitech quickcam messenger mic and audio problems
Lorne, you may have a driver issue of some type. Look in your Device Manager/System or simply Device Manager on Vista and verify that there are no yellow exclamation or question marks beside any of the audio drivers before, during, and after any attempts at calling. check the same for all the drivers. If this gives you no indications at all, and you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that all other audio functions are working correctly on your computer, then the only real suggestion I could give is to attempt a re-installation of the software that is giving you this problem. However when you de-install the affected software, also removed the folder entirely from the system using Windows Explorer as there may be a setting left in the folder that may be causing this issue and could affect your next installation.

Logitech Audio Tuning Wizard ???? I have this webcam - The settings I have made in 'Settings' ( 2 gearwheels) on the Logitech toolbar are:_ Default mic = 'microphone 2 - logitech notebook' Volume adjustment - midway Suppress background noise - box checked
In addition my audio settings for yahoo messenger:- Laptop x webcam/mic x Vista x Yahoo Messenger If you have an earlier OS, you may have to access your hardware from the Control Panel.
TEST SPEAKERS Right click on speaker icon in System Tray Select "Playback Devices" The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible Right click on the volume graph and click "Test" Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard
SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC Click "Recording" tab. To set required mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties" In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click OK Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later) Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays Restart computer CONFIGURE TO MESSENGER
Open messenger - on top toolbar. Left click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Connection - Select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have make sure your internet connection and country are correct in the lower two boxes > Apply > OK
Click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Calling and Audio Set mic and speakers to show Default equipment Run call up assistant to test audio equipment > Apply > OK
I read another post that said to go to Logitech itself for up-dates. This I did......downloaded all new drivers, etc. (the disc that comes with the cam must be out of date !). Then when that was done, I went back on Skype and where you do a 'voice test' I was able to this time around to "choose" my webcam - this was not coming up before at all. So in doing that it activated the mic on the webcam and all was OK. We seniors are supposed to be savvy with the forever changing world of electronic devices today! (LOL)
Windows Messenger is a native Instant Messenger application to Windows XP. This application can be used to set the output device of your choice. In turn, this information will carry over to the MSN Messenger 7.5 application settings.
Launch Windows Messenger and execute the audio tuning wizard.
Go to “Start”. Select “Run”. Type “msmsgs” and click “OK”.
In theWindows Messenger, click “Tools” and select “Audio Tuning Wizard”.
Follow the steps which are provided by the “Audio Tuning Wizard” and select your desired Microphone & Speaker device.
Once this process is complete, close the Windows Messenger application. The configuration change made through Windows Messenger should now be set in the MSN Messenger 7.5 application.
