Question about Refrigerators

5 Answers

Original Post: Refrigerator- Kenmore Elite 795.77573600 Error "error if" appeared on display panel. I believe this is related to the ice maker fan. Unplugged freezer and turned ice maker off. Turned refrig. on, and error message does not come back. Error message reappears within 5 minutes if I turn ice maker back on. Refrig has been working without ice maker turned on for several weeks; however, the freezer has alot ice built up on the top and back of freezer. Do I need part number 1463582 (dc mtr.)? Also, does anyone have instructions and/or procedures for replacing necessary part? What I have done: I replaced the evaporator(freezer) fan motor Manufacturer part number 4681JK1004E/RepairClinic item number 1267574 and the main control board part number EBR34917104/RepairClinic item number 1463582. The main control board was definetely bad, because it contained a burnt transistor. The "error 1f" still displays ONLY IF the ice maker is turned on. If the ice maker is off, the refrif works fine. What else could be the problem? Thanks in advance.

This error you are getting is coming from an issue with the fan you may call it freezer fan or evaporator fan, you stated that you change it however it still give you the same error that relate to the fan…first make sure when you connected all the parts that the ground is connected good as well as all connections. When placing the fan make sure it is moving freely and with easy. Do you hear the fan working when you start the ice maker? As a backup look inside the icemaker and see if you have anything that stuck inside…let me know
Please let me know how this worked for you and please do not forget to grade my assistance so I am able to continue to provide you with better service. I will be working with you to conclusion of the issues

Hi,

This could be a loose power on the stove due to certain power outage happen earlier before the problem starts, the unit needs to be reset by plugging it out or you could turn the power off in you house via the circut breaker.

Hope this helps

Hi,

1F means you have an issue with your fan motor cooling your icemaker--- usually this means you need to replace the fan motor. Until you can replace your fan motor turn off the switch for the icemaker, then flip the circuit breaker to off for a few seconds and turn it back on. The display should remain lit and operable, but you won't have an icemaker.

Hope i helped you.

First thing I would say is that it sounds like the defrost circuit is not working right. That's why you have ice built up in the freezer. There is a fuse in the defrost heater circuit you could check. The ice 'sensor' is probably bad. It monitors the temp of the ice forming tray until it reaches 19 degrees F, then it dumps the ice. It could also be the heater that comes on for 30 seconds to start the ice cubes melting a bit to drop. You can check both of these things I believe.
I would think that you'd get an error code though if the defrost didn't work. It doesn't sound right that there is ice built up in the freezer.

The "Er-IF" in the display is caused by the Ice maker Ice Fan freezing up and not running or the Ice Fan is running but it's not being detected by the control board as running. Moisture has been known in some environments to migrate into the fan grill assembly and freeze and cause the ice maker fan motor to not be able to run and cause the "ER-IF" to display. This type of failure will require a service technician to repair your refrigerator. There is a proven fix to remedy the problem which will require a technician.

This involves a "re-flash" of the controller, and requires special equipment.

If everything is working as it should - it may not be worth the repair.

If there were burned components on the original board - there may be some suspect wiring as well.

Thanks for using FixYA!!

This is an error code for the icemaker fan motor.

The ER IF code indicates a failure of the icing fan.

You may notice slower ice production but the other fans should be okay.

You can select the ultra ice option and see if the fan toggles on.

The fan or the control is bad.

On my Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator, the display on the left door reads ErCo and the ice maker does not work . Its less than 2 years old

The Er Co error code signifies a communication error between the display control board on the freezer door and the main power board on the outer back panel of the refrigerator.

Check the wiring and connections between the low voltage interface and the main high voltage board.

If you are able to unplug the refrigerator and remove the cover over the control board on the back of the refrigerator,
you can check the wiring connection on the main control board.

If this wiring connection is okay, check the wire harness connection under the hinge cover on the top of the left hand refrigerator door.
If these connections are okay, then you will need access the wire harness connection in the dispenser.

Er if code on display

ER means Error code......
The If error message indicates that the fan for the ice maker has failed. The main control board receives a feedback signal from this fan motor for the ice maker. If the feedback signal is abnormal or missing, then the error message will be displayed. The fan motor for the ice maker could be bad. You could also have a bad wiring connection between the motor and the control board. A remote possibility would be that the control board is bad. This is not likely since you noticed the ice melting in your storage bucket.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair this failure.
