Re: router

I know you are looking for some software from D-Link If you follow these instructions I believe you can find what you want. However G54 is not a valid model on this site please check your device to determine a more accurate model number

Click Support

Click United States

Click Product Information If your model number is on the page click it
If you model number is not on the page
Click here (between the gray and blue bars at the top) The instructions stop here and you are on your own ----You probably want to look for the corrected name for the G54 now
AS AN EXAMPLE the steps below will lookup the DI-514 in the heading of this message
Under Broadband2.gif, Under Routers2.gif, Click DI-514

Use the pictures2.gif to Choose the correct revision matching the label on the bottom of the router2.gif.

(Note sometimes international models appear near the top without a picture2.gif but with a link)

If not international choose A, B, C Click on picture that matches

The resulting page contains the manual, quick start guide, firmware, how-tos, etc,

Unable to to set up wireless for second laptop using the current Netcomn router model NB5Plus4w. By the way, the original router installation disc is not available, can this be downloaded form the...

In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.

There a great article at General Router Setup.

If you need more help post back!
Thumbs and testimonial are welcome!

I don't have my installation CD

Go to this Microsoft website:;en-us;814445

...and read the instructions on this page. You will find a link on this page where you can download MS installation software.

"If you lose your Microsoft Broadband Networking CD and you have to install the software on a new computer, download the contents of the installation CD. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:" (

(The first link is useful because it also includes instructions and a link to the firmware updates.)

I have a problem setting up and connecting with ZyXel NBG 334W wireless cble router. I have lost set up disc!!!!!!!!! HELP ME PLEASE, ITS DRIVING ME INSANE!!!!!!

Your only option is to call the Technical Support department of Zyxel. They know how to help you set up the router manually, or if you don't want to set it up manually, they can send you another installation disk.

To get contact numbers for Zyxel visit the following website:

Sorry that I couldn't help you out, however contacting Zyxel will get this resolved much more quickly. Have a great day.

Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router--trouble opeing ComCast email

Sadly the mimo router you show in the picture is similar to the one I had. I still have it, and it works somewhat. I had the same problems, and Netgear had no fix for me.

So I fixed it with dlink, I went and bought a dlink router and the problem vanished. Sorry to reply like this, but it was the only fix for me. The dlink router has worked flawlessly. I refrained from further Netgear purchases after this. The problem has not returned. :) Now please don't rush out and buy dlink, any other brand will work, like linksys, or belkin. Sometimes the problem is caused by the brand. This problem and many like it caused Netgear major problems they'll never recover from.

Word of the wise..Quality can never be fixed by quantity. Pay the extra $10 and get a decent router.

Resetting password

Hello again, no problem at all! Thanks for letting me know.

If your router was actually set up by your ISP/network provider, or came with their settings, I’d recommend a visit to their website or helpline before going further.

This is because ISPs sometimes put their own firmware onto a router – most don’t do this, but some do. This makes the standard manufacturer’s manual useless for troubleshooting, and can make simple tasks, such as setting security, more difficult. I know that Sky do this, for example.

So I would not recommend a reset at this point, as you will lose the internet connection altogether until the router is set up again. Also, each ISP is different as to which settings they require to set up the router again: so again, a visit to their website or helpline is a good place to find this out.

Sorry to be negative here, but I’d rather err on the side of caution – having tried to help a someone with a Sky router, I’ve learned to tread carefully!

If you find that everything on your router is otherwise standard apart from the password – and your ISP supplies the password – you should be able to proceed as stated.

If you’d like to get hold of a standard DG834GT reference manual or installation guide by the way, you can download one from here: (bottom left)- there are also some helpful links on this page.

Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Yes, you need to swap the router out.

This is assuming you dont have the netopia in bridge mode with another device behind it.

There are two things involved in getting disconnected either your comp is getting disconnected or your router.
Instance 1
Computer getting disconnected connect your comp and router with ethernet cable if using wireless. Because at times it's not router but the wireless connectivity that gets loost.
Instance 2
Router getting disconnected...
Reset your router by holding the reset pin at the back of your router for 15 secs and lights will start flashing on router wait for 1 min you'll have router reset to default settings and now check that dsl or internet light on your router is flashing or static if flashing contact your isp issue with the line if static run the disc for router installation again and it'll remain connected after successful installation.

Sending wireless messages

If Norton is intervening, it's most likely to be the anti-spam package that's doing it - make sure you don't have it installed, and if you do, try disabling it, if that doesn't work, try uninstalling it. That should do the job.
